SAHMs - What do you do to fill the time?

I'm officially home for at least six months. I'm waiting for baby number 2 but home with my almost two year old. Since I'll be home, I can't spend money anymore so I don't want to temp myself by going into any stores.

Since 7 am we've eaten breakfast, had a snack, played with blocks and colored.

We'll probably go for a walk in a few minutes. What else can I do during the day to stimulate a almost 2 year old that has been in daycare since he was three months old?

I am in the same boat as you, can't spend any money. I usually do errands, go to our local library, we go to my parents alot when DH is working.( he is gone 3-4 days in a row for work).

the local library has storytime - I think B&N and borders both do it also.

Walk

Play with toys

Watch Noggin and dance along

with a two year old, you can try some sort of arts & crafts ... anything would work ... coloring, glue sticks, finger paints, play doh, tracing her hand and cutting it out.

I am in the same boat with not a lot of money to pay for classes etc right now - I find actually we keep pretty busy most days.

I read to her a few times a day, we sing, I walk her around the house and we explore and I show her things, we play with her toys that we alternate, in good weather I take her for long walks, or meet up with a friend and walk at the mall. I am looking online for new activities to do with her. We run errands. I often pick up my grandmother who will come over to see the baby.

I try to plan something even if it is small mid day- everyday so that takes up a chunk of our day and makes it easier to fill in the rest of the time.

I'm always looking for new things and find that you can get some great suggestions on here if you do some searches.

I was in a library group with DS this past fall.
I go to Barnes N Noble on Wed. mornings.
We go for walks.
I am in another library group with some other LIF mom's.
We play with all his toys.
Read.
Oooh and we have to watch Elmo. LOL.
I'll go to the mall just to walk too.

DS will be one on Tuesday.

I take DD and the dog to the park and walk walk walk. And now she can go on the swings.

I don't care what the weather is. I dress everyone appropriately and walk in the rain, the cold, the wind.

B&N Storytime.

Dance, cook, sing, jumperoo.

Other stuff that costs $$ but is worth it to me.

Every Tuesday we have Music Together.

We go to B&N every Wednesday for Storytime.
On Fridays we have Gymboree.

We play with all of his toys during the day.

Read books.

I put him in his exercauser/jumperoo to get some housework done.

We always have errands to run so we are usually out and about.

On the nicer days we have been going for walks also.

I have a 19 month old...

1.We go next door to my mom's alot. Most of his toys are there. We have a tiny apartment.

2. Go for a walk (weather permitting)

3. Go to the playground down the block (weather permitting)

4. Go the park (weather permitting)

5. Play with toys

6. Put on a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse DVD

7. Play with his shape shorter (that lasts for about 15 minutes)...LOL Once he's put in all the shapes in the right spots for like the gazillionith time he's ready to move on...LOL
