Satellite Radio in your Car...

I bought an '06 Honda Civic EX a few months ago and my radio says "XM Ready" - does anyone know what that means?

I've looked through the manual and it says nothing!

I want to know whether or not I can just call XM or do I have to get something installed?

I'm such a girl about these things...and DH is no help at all.

Re: Satellite Radio in your Car...

I bet if you just call XM they'll be able to tell you if you need to buy the radio or if they can just send the signal to the radio that's already in your car and start charging you...

I think you just have to call XM and they will tell you how much it is per month to have a subscription. I think we have one of these things too and there is no separate receiver or anything in the car.

Re: Satellite Radio in your Car...

When I got my Honda, it had all the controls for XM, all I had to do was call XM to have the signal sent and set up a membership

Do you have satellite controls on your radio? Mine is the button with the CD player.

I haven't the slightest clue- I have the CD player, and there's an XM/AUX button....and then the obvious +/- channels.

Urrrgh...I' going to call XM.

Thanks ladies!

If you have the button, all you need to do is call XM, it stakes 5 minutes tops!

My DH had to do that also, it was about $300 for the modulator.

I saw the same thing on a few Honda Chat boards...I've decided it against getting it installed and subscribing since I hardly spend time in the car, and I have my ipod.
