Re: sauce recipe needed
for a bsic marinara sauce. I usually go heavy on garlic..
I use evoo heat that up & then I grate a small onion.. let that cook & i add the garlic sliced . Then I add fresh basil. add the sauce usually 2 cans or crushed tomato . Let that cook & done..
if you like you can add neckbones or ribs to the sauce & let that cook for a few as well...

Re: sauce recipe needed
I use This recipe
I am WASP who married an Italian and sauce was my Waterloo. I don't use the meatball recipe bc I prefer the Rachel Ray one from mini-meatball soup. But I do add sausage to the sauce while it's cooking and then the meatballs during the last hour or so.

Olive oil in a pot..just coat the bottom.
One large sweet onion chopped 2 cloves of garlic chopped coarse salt ground pepper 2 or 3 basil leaves or 1/2 teaspoon dried basil 1/2 teaspoon oregano 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper 1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes 2 cans rushed tomatoes 1 can plum tomatoes -crushed in hand before putting in the pot 1/2 can of water 2 teaspoons of tomato paste
sautee the onions until sweated..then add the garlic. season with salt and pepper. sautee both until fragrant
add two cans crushed tomatoes and the one can plum tomatoes. Add the 1/2 can of water
medium heat for about 30 minutes covered.
add the oregano, basil, red pepper flakes, parsley and tomato paste.
Cook on medium for about an hour..taste for seasonings and adjust as necessary.
