saving account for home...
we want to open a seperate account that is strictly for house repairs etc.....we dont own a home yet but are in the market. We have an ing(our savings) right now that we put money for our downpayment etc but i want a total seperate account...do you think we should do an ing for the house or a bank. Im looking for something with a good interest rate if there is one i think the ing is at 1.2 now

Re: saving account for home...
i have a few ing accounts set up, including one like you want..i like it that way bc its just the ease of transferring it all online when i have a chance..i know me i wouldnt get to the bank enough to do it that way

Re: saving account for home...
I have an ING account also. They automatically take out $$$ from my checking every month. That's my house money. When it was time to get a pool the money was there and it felt good, I didn't have to charge it or worry how to paid for it.

Re: saving account for home...
i just did an ING for our house it seems so "real" now that we have an account named HOUSE...even though we have been always putting money into it for that purpose

Re: saving account for home...
Capital One Bank has better interest rates on their savings over ING. I think 1.55% currently.
And they have the benefit of having local branches available.

Re: saving account for home...
We have an account just for home repairs with the same bank our checking is with so transferring is easier. We have ING for strictly savings

Re: saving account for home...
We love the convenience of our ING accounts. You can have separate sub-accounts but can transfer between them instantly.
We had a honeymoon savings account (sub-account) where we calculated how much we needed, divided it by how much time we had, and had it automatically direct-deposited in.
I don't see the need to keep it at a separate bank...

im not sure if it is the best....but what i love is that you cant get the money immediately..which some people see as bad. But it stops impulse buying. and like other post said its all done online...i am horrible with going to the bank so i can just transfer funds over and thats it.

ING is very convenient I love them I have a savings and a checking through them. Its unfortunate about the interest rates though now I think they all have goned down the tubes...

Re: saving account for home...
we have several ING accounts
We had 1 for when we saved to buy our house
we also have 3 other accounts with ING
1 for a baby and another for our car 1 for a vacation
its so easy. I have it set up to take money out of my account every time we get paid. its such a great way of saving I think.

Re: saving account for home...
we use an online savings account with HSBC. we just transfer $ into there every month. then, if we need it we will transfer it into our regular bank accounts. When we opened it the interest rate was high (like 5%.....but i know it is very low now in comparison)
