Saw my room...update to frustrated

last week I posted that my new school wasn't open yet and i was stressed out b/c i didn't know what was going on. well, we had a voluntary meeting on friday and were given some info and then we were told that we could start moving into the school on monday..

my room is a decent size and the location is good. it's clean (no roaches like my old school) there's a mini fridge, sink and water fountain as well as a bathroom. 2 file cabinets and a storage closet w/3 shelves. those ae my positives..

negatives....they ordered only trapezoid tables for k-2, I have 6 =18 tightly squeezed kids...1 teacher desk that is more like a table w/a drawer (not the conventional desk) 1 kidney table and 2 rect. tables. 4 short 2 shelved bookcases and that's it as far as decor goes. oh and there isn't adequate wall space for a word wall...ugh

supplies...get ready to laugh...
1 chart tablet
1 paper 100s chart
2 packs of crayons...yes 2 packs for 18 kids
1 pencil sharpener that doesn't sharpen ticogranda pencils...whats the point
18 scissors
18 browsing books for our library
18 seat sacks
1 dry erase marker - w t f?
1 easel
5 pkgs of construction paper
2 glue sticks - again w t f
3 elmers glue bottles

i know it must be hard to open a new school and order supplies for everyone, but seriously....w t f?

at least i know what i need to buy and am thankful that i have a lot of things to use from my personal collection. but i feel really bad for the 1st yr teachers b/c there is nothing that they can use.

hopefully these minor things remain the only negatives...but only time will tell. i'll keep myself positive b/c it's the people that matter not the materials.

k...thanks for letting me update.

I know you are not happy but I wish I got that many supplies.

My first day in my school I got.

1 box of chalk
2 ROWS of staples
1 eraser
1 ream of paper
1 roll of scotch tape no dispenser
1 package of index cards
1 package of book cards
a handful of rubber bands

THAT'S IT!

Oh and a grade book and a lesson plan book

Re: Saw my room...update to frustrated

i wouldn't stress too much---yet.

I am sure that the school has sent out a supply list to the parents over the summer, so i am sure the kids will be coming in with their own supplies (notebooks, folders, etc.)

Also, i am sure there are school wide supplies that you will be able to share with your grade: books, math manipulatives, etc. it's probably just a matter of everything arriving to the new school.

GOOD LUCK and hang in there!

It could be worse... I'm at a Catholic school, and just found out that ALL I have from the school is what the guy I'm replacing left behind in his desk Chat Icon I either have to buy what I want or have the kids bring it in. Thank God it's high school so they don't need much. But still.... Chat Icon
