Sayville/Oakdale/Bohemia parks?
Anyone know of any good parks in the Sayville/Oakdale/Bohemia area? Took DS to Heckscher Park and was kind of turned off by it so I could really use some suggestions. Thanks

I like going to the Holtsville Ecology Center. They have the animal preserve, a walking train, and a playground
If you are just looking for a playground there seems to be a nice one in Sayville on Broadway Ave- not far off Montauk Hwy. There are baseball fields over there and then a nice looking playground area(never been there myself though)

I love the Ecology Center too! And the playground in Sayville sounds great!!! Thank you so much!! I'm going to take a ride after work to see if I could find it (I should have been more specific and said I was looking more for "playgrounds")

Foster Ave Park in sayville. Its right on the bay, big playground, lots of families. though i think you have to be a town resident with a permit to park after memorial day

I love the park at sayville beach. You have to get a town of Islip card to go there after memorial day. It's well worth it, they have a really nice fenced playground, the beach and a paved trail great for bikes.

If you know where the Dog and Duck used to be on Montauk Hwy and Broadway Ave (it's now Blackbird's Grill I think)- it's not far from there. They have farmer's markets and craft fairs in that area sometimes- i think it's called Islip Grange?

Re: Sayville/Oakdale/Bohemia parks?
There is a small on by Patchogue Holbrook Road and Greenbelt Parkway - by the fire house behind the Rec Center.
I took DS to one, in Ronkonkoma, by Kohl's - they had a bathroom and some sport fields.
There is one on Church Street in Holbrook (?) - Behind the stop & shop - a little down, between Johnson & Broadway - sorry I can't narrow it down more.

I don't know if East Islip is too far but there is a cute on at Brookwood Hall on Irish Lane. They just made a really nice new playground and then there is a pond with ducks and another little playground.

It still is a great park as for the park at sayville beach if you park on the street before and go in the back entrance you don't have to pay to park. The one in broadway is also a great one too.

Does everyone have to have a card or just one person in the car??

Lake Ronkonkoma County Park. There's a big playground on the Kohl's side, and if you either enter from the lake side, or walk through the park (there are paved paths through the trees, with tables at various locations), there is a smaller playground designed for younger kids.
ETA: It's also called Raynor Beach Park.

I'm fairly certain it's a parking sticker, so it's just per car, not per person.
