Scared out of my mind - UPDATE
Went to the RE today - I'm 6w1d - and they said they couldn't see the yolk sac.
I asked the tech if it was bad and he was like - I wouldn't say bad yet...
The doctor said that the gestational sac is grew but the yolk sac just may not be able to be seen yet - or - it could mean something else... something bad
She said its 50/50 - to see a gestational sac grow and no yolk sac at 6w1d... sometimes people come back in a few days later and there it is
She wants me to go back Saturday for another ultrasound - she said that if she doesn't see it then - then she would start to get concerned - on Saturday I will be 6w4d.
Anyone experience this?? Please tell me the HONEST truth... whatever it may be.
THanks
*UPDATE SO ITS EASIER TO FIND*
Doctor just called...
they said my levels are 16,000 and the sac did grow and now measurses 17x10
Those are good - but from what I've been told and I've researched with numbers like that I really should see something - especially a yolk sac, right??
I can't even function right now... I left work yesterday and wasn't gonna come in until Saturday - but I went into work to try to take my mind off of it

Re: Scared out of my mind
I can't say that I expereinced this, but at my first OB appt. I was 6w5d and they didn't do an ultrasound. All my doc did was examine me and told me to come back the next week and that's when they'd take a look via ultrasound.
I think the 6 week period is just a tricky time.
Try not to stress out (i know easier said than done)

Re: Scared out of my mind
They only saw a sac for me at 6w3d and I went back a week later and there was a HB.
Don't stress!

Re: Scared out of my mind
Since you are under the care of an RE, I am assuming you know for sure when you ovulated and are REALLY 6w1d.....
that being said - I have heard that it can be too early at that point to see anything. AND you could have had a late implanter which could put you a few days back.
I would try your best to relax! Lots of prayers that you get good news at your next appointment!

Re: Scared out of my mind
This is the reason I didn't go to the doctor until I was 8 weeks! It really CAN go either way right now...... Quick backstory on me.....my very first pregnancy I went in at 6 weeks and saw nothing, was terrified just like you. Went back a week later and there it was, seemingly all good. Then 2 weeks later it all went south again and I lost the pregnancy. I only tell you this because you asked for honesty. From that moment on and with my next 2 pregnancies I refused to go to the doctor until I was far enough along that I was supposed to see something without question.
I am of the mindset to not panic until there is something to panic over, and I know it's easier said then done! I'll keep you in my thoughts that you are in the lucky 50%....

Re: Scared out of my mind
If they are telling you not to worry yet then don't!!! When I was going through this I stopped researching things because like my Doc said "Every woman's body is diffrent. Every baby is diffrent." You could go back on sat and see everything your suppose to see or see nothing. At this point it's a waiting game. Anything can happen.

Re: Scared out of my mind
STOP researching - Everyone's body is different, every pregnancy is different and everyone reacts to a pregnancy differently -
If it was bad, God forbid, the Dr. would have told you that -
Sometimes things just take a bit longer
Sometimes they can't find what they're looking for w/ the 9 billion machines they poke you with
Sometimes baby just does NOT want to cooperate !! and things that you 'should be able to see/hear/feel at x point in the pregnancy .....well, you don't - And then you panic, and then 2 weeks later you finally breathe a sigh of relief -
I won't tell you not to worry/stress, I'll just but STOP doing research !!

This is the reason I didn't go to the doctor until I was 8 weeks!
Yeah, but she's under the care of a RE. RE paitents once pregnant are monitored weekly from BFP until they are released to their OB.
To the OP: You are really on the cusp of time where you may or may not see anything on the sono. I assume they are having you go back again next week?
When I was pregnant with my DD, the week of my 1st sono, I actually had to go 3 times that week to make sure things were progressing as the sac seemed to be progressing slowing even though my beta numbers were moving they way they should have been.
DD just turned a year old!
I know it's nervewracking, but try to hang in there!

Re: Scared out of my mind
Yes... I am scheduled to go back to the RE Saturday - where I will be 6w4d...
I've cried all I can cry and I am at peace with either result... I just need to know - the wait is killing me so bad.
I guess we just post on here to get support or hear similar stories - or just to vent - thank you for all the responses and please keep them coming.
I need them!

Re: Scared out of my mind - UPDATE
When my levels were in the 12,000s I still only had a big empty sac....hang in there!
ETA: I am cutting and pasting my response to someone else with a similar situation that describes what happened to me...don't know if it will help but just thought I would share:
I got my bfp on 1/26, on 1/29 I went to the md, he said i was just about 5 weeks based on lmp(12/23)...I had a sono and there was nothing really to see-there was one tiny spot that he said could be the start of something(beta was in 900's) and told me to come back in 2 weeks. One week later I had some light brown spotting so they had me return and this time on sono there was a sac but nothing inside(beta this time was in 12,000's)-md wanted me to return in 2 weeks. That appt was cancelled on me. I finally went back on 2/23 where I should have been around 9 weeks. This time sono had a little baby and a heart flickering. Baby was measuring 8w3d. I have cycles averaging about 31 days so really for the first 2 appts I was only 4 and 5 weeks so it was way too early...
