Scary day in the neighborhood

Welllllll around 11am the bank up the street from my house (literally 45 seconds away) was robbed, and a man in the area was carjacked and driven all the way to Nassau county.
Here's the story: http://news12.com/LI/topstories/article?id=173375

AND

The street where I work (Indian Head Rd) was shut down for at least an hour or 2 for "body removal". I can't find any details, but from what I saw, it was a terrible, terrible accident.

I'm always saddened when its so close to home, because it really is a small town, and chances are I know the family. I can't find any more info! Chat Icon

I know we tend to think that but in all honesty crime can happen anywhere at any time. Sometimes more affluent neighborhoods are targeted because the criminals know they have a greater chance of getting more loot.

I can't find anymore info! I have no idea if he's still loose.

Grandma's just fine. Her response, "I grew up in Brooklyn. I ain't no sissy."

My FIL is from Brooklyn and he has the same attitude. It's as if their daily life in Brooklyn was filled with P.O.W. torture techniques and they all grew up to be some weird hybrid of Rambo meets the TerminatorChat Icon Nothing phases them. My FIL does have 4 locks on the front door though... that and the super dooper alarm system, their house is better secured than Fort Knox. Chat Icon

IF GRandma does need a drink after today maybe you should have one for her.Chat Icon

Grandma is the BEST.

She's young...only 67....and she has a curly black fro (that she sometimes puts "bordeaux" dye in - Chat Icon).....and she'd still be wearing cinch belts if the box they were in wasn't damaged in her move. Chat Icon

Oh, your Grandma is younger than both of my IL's and two years older than my Dad. Only 67, she probably would have had his head in a vice grip in the parking lotChat Icon
