Schedules
How rigid are you?
If baby has a 7 pm bedtime, do you always make sure you are home in time?
Do you feed baby at the exact same time very day?
I am struggling with this a little, I know she does so much better on a schedule but I like to do stuff too!

Re: Schedules
ok I am probably not the right person to ask...but I am SUPER strict about Talia's bedtime. I miss things I used to do - and EVERY once and a while we will make an exception (like when we are on vacation) but I also like sleeping at night and I know if she isn't down by 7 - the night will be hell for both of us.
I have also gotten a little more strict about her napping since she is down to 2 naps a day - is she misses one - it's not pretty.
As far as eating I feed her solid foods around the same times every day - but I let her tell me when she wants a bottle (Except for the last one which she gets before bed.)

Re: Schedules
I get flamed from my mom and MIL all the time- for the most part- I stick to it- If Im out at night- I try my hardest (however now that summer is here- ive been a slacker) to get home in time to put him to bed.... They feel thats ridiculous....
For me- I dont think its fair to him- that he stay out past his bedtime, to make him become over tired, and cranky... just so I could sit around my mother or MIL house, or run an errand.... If its that important that something has to get done... someone can stay home with him....
If we are invited to dinner at my IL's and dinner isnt until 8- but yet Ryans bedtime is 7- I get a babysitter.... I will not enjoy myself, or get a chance to eat- if he is cranky and crying... Besides the fact- that it makes our night soooooo much worse... and the only person who has to deal with that it me!
Special occasions, and every now and then we stray (esp. now that he is getting older and more flexible!)
During the day- if we are home we try and keep to our nap sched.- but Im not as strict with that...since he will nap pretty much anywhere....
As I said- I get told how silly it is that I do this all the time... But in my eyes... the only 2 people it effects is ME and DS- so Im gonna do what works in OUR favor!
ETA- our feeding sched. is pretty much the exact same everyday.... no matter where I am!

Re: Schedules
we stick to our feeding times pretty much within a half hr or so. She eats at 8am, around noon, and dinner around 4-4:15pm.
She gets tired and goes to bed between 6-7pm but sometimes we go down later and once in a blue moon it's early.
ETA: yes we do run our schedule around her bedtime....I know that if she doesn't go down when she's tired, it's SO hard to get her down but she does sleep through the night still.

Re: Schedules
Julia has never been on a schedule, and its been just fine. I would like her to go to bed at 8 instead of 10, but she sleeps through the night and doesn't wake up till 9:30am, so I'm not complaining! I don't feed her at the same times everyday, I think I would drive myself crazy if I did that, I just feed her breakfast when she gets up, I give her snacks through out the day and she eats lunch and dinner when I eat. Schedules don't work for me. I don't like to be tied down.

Re: Schedules
i really tried in the beginning to be on a strict schedule, but that has kinda gone out the window. i kinda feed him whenever, i think the only set meal is breakfast. Lunch is anywhere from 12-2... and dinner well sometimes he gets it and sometimes he doesnt. bedtime was always around 7 but then it went to 7:30 then 8:00.. i just go with the flow...

No I am not that strict because it really doesn't seem to affect her if we have a late night here or there but if she gets cranky somewhere then we will leave to go to bed but usually if she is occupied she is fine and just goes to sleep right when we get home.
I try to stick to a schedule as far as bottles, breakfast and dinner but lunch isn't always exact but its usually somewhere between 12 and 2 depending on how our day is going.

Re: Schedules
With the exception of last night I make sure she is in her PJs by 8 and we are either on the road (and she falls asleep in the car) or that I am putting her down at 8. Everything else is usually done in the same increment of time based on when she gets up. So she eats breakfast an hour after she gets up, plays for an hour or so takes a nap and so on. But the exact times vary to her waking time. Only thing I am stict about is 8pm

We are the same way. Hayley will sleep anywhere so if I am out at 9 and she is tired, she will sleep in her stroller, not wake when I put her in and out of the car seat and lay her down still sleeping.

Re: Schedules
We have a very loose schedule with Emily. She's sleeping later and later now that it's the summer and I'm home -- so she doesn't have to get out of the house to go to the babysitters by a certain time -- but pretty much she wakes up, has a bottle, has some breakfast (or whatever she'll let me get in her -- she's boycotting solids) about an hour later, nap, wake up bottle, lunch.......so on and so on. It's not to a "T" but it's always about the same time each day.
She's in bed by about 8-8:30 every day and even if we've had a busy day and she's missed her naps I never mess with that --- she's a disaster if we don't get her to bed on time.
