Scholastic books
Do parents still order from there? I got some of the scholastic book club flyers sent home with my son who started kindergarten. I use to order all the time even when I taught. It did say that it would earn free books for his classroom. Thanks

Re: Scholastic books
I used to order but now I just let her pick them out herself at the Book Fairs they have at school. I send her in with money whenever they are having a book fair

I got several last year during prek. I usually see what looks interesting and is a good price, then check the reviews on Amazon, and pick from there. I've gotten some great ones super cheap. I've found the book fair has terrible prices compared to the booklet.

Yes. We don't order every month, but a few times a year. On the months we don't order, I have my DD write down the name and author of the books she's interested in from the flyer and we take them out of the library.

Re: Scholastic books
I order for my DS. They offer a lot of the books/series he likes at good prices, and I like that you can see the reading level for the books.
I don't order from every flyer, but probably 4 times a year.

Re: Scholastic books
My problem with purchasing books is that she reads it once, then she's done with it, and it sits on a shelf taking up space that we don't have. I much prefer the library because she can take out 6/7 books at time, read them all and we can go back the next week and get more. She's all about variety and rarely reads a book more than once. I'm the same way- that's why I love my Kindle. No more storing bulky books that I read once and never look at again.

I love them, and usually let DS pick out one or two books about every other month.

This.
When my kids were younger -I had no issues buying the books, since they re-read them.
But, then I had a ton of books and no place to keep them.
So I only order occasionally. And I let them pick out at the book fair (they can buy one in school and one at family night - and older DS typically buys a Minecraft book he can use for reference).

We hand books down to younger siblings so I don't mind buying but I also hate clutter. once the youngest has outgrown them we donate them to the school or the library.

Re: Scholastic books
I was so excited that my DD's fifth grade teacher handed out the Scholastic forms at back to school night. They have such good deals in there. I especially love the dollar book selections! This month, The One and Only Ivan is only a buck! GREAT book! My DD read it a couple of years ago, and I paid full price for that. If it's your order form, you should get it! Even if you have to put it away for a bit.
