School Bus Accident on Hempstead Tpke in Levittown near Shelter Lane
Did anyone other than me see this on Hempstead tpke this morning
This morning....there was a cop next to me and he put on his siren and passed through the light....On hempstead tpke....Then made a U turn in front of the Dunkin Donuts and I then noticed there was a bus flipped on its side.....and there was little kids standing around it. It was a small school bus....In front of me there was a car stopped and a woman talking to the man inside.....When I pulled up next to it I noticed the entire front end of the car was pushed up against the windsheild. It was freaky...It just happened......Thank god I was late this morning.......
I hope evereyone is ok...

They just showed it on channel 7 news. The students were all special needs students and all were brought to the hospital. So far there are no arrests and no report of the extent of injuries.

So weird because I cannot understand how they hit. The car was on the other side of hempstead tpke and the bus was in front of the Levittown town hall.....facing the opposite direction as the car.

I am not sure; they did not go into detail on the news, but it looked like the bus was on its side and against a pole.

This was right near my house. I FREAKED. AS I left the house this morning I heard sirens and the helicopter was circiling my house!
I got to Hempstead tpke and could only go one block. They had it all shut down. I couldn't see what it was.
I knew my DH left about 30 minutes before and was like oh god I hope it wasn't him. It wasn't but he didn't see anything. Then I realized my mom leaves around the same time. She passed the spot about 5 minutes after my dh and saw the kids climbing out of the emergency exit and sitting on the curb. She FREAKED when she told me this I couldn't breathe.
Then I saw on the news that it was special ed children. This made me even more sad. I have a cousin who is autistic and there is NO WAY he would have handled that well

I saw it on the news this morning as they were re-opening Hempstead Tpk to traffic. The bus was no longer on its side, so I didn't catch the whole story. The Levittown library is right down the block.
