Why????
Did they get snow? There isn't a flake on the floor in Deer Park  thank goodness because I drive all the way to Queens to teach and NYC schools do not close!

Still, a 2-hour delay for rain?
Unless they got more snow or ice out there, it doesn't make sense to me. I never remember in my life having a 2-hour delay for rain.

Wow. Now schools are delaying openings for rain?
Unless they got snow/ice in Rocky Point (which is pretty hilly) I think it's crazy.

There is no snow, but there is water issues - little flooding, etc - that may be the reason, or I could be talking out of my a$$ on this one.

Rocky Point!! LMAO!!! They close if it RAINS!!! 
every single time i notice them - either a delay (if there's nothing) or if there is a dusting of snow they close the school - it is hysterical!

Many of the roads in the Rocky Point district are VERY hilly, steep & narrow...they were probably just doing it as a precaution.

I agree with you all which is why i posted this in the first place, I think it's such a joke that they do ta 2 hour delay, and i leave at 6 am in the morning and still got to work on time.

My school was open but driving to work I saw a few cars with snow on them...must have been snow somewhere, even in my parking lot another teacher's car had snow..someone was lucky to have a delay.
Any chance for snow on Friday???

I live in Rocky Point also, and I am a teacher, so I was out pretty early... there was definitely a layer of snow/slush on on my car...

I asked my mom about this b/c she drives a bus on the North Fork to BOCES. She said their delays were most likely b/c not every school district has their own buses- that some of them rent buses from outside companies and some of those companies aren't close to the school districts that they're in.
