School closings from snow from last weekend!
Can you believe that we actually got some snow here in NC, I'm in Morrisville, RTP area) last Friday night into Saturday. We only got about 5-6 inches and schools were closed on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and an hour delay this morning!   Talk about frustrating, especially for people like me that work FT. It's ridiculous how things close down with even the chance of snow.  Welcome to the South!!!
And now we have a slim chance of a little bit Friday or Saturday this coming weekend and I guarantee that they will close again!

My sister is in Concord and they were closed Mon and Tues. She said it was ridiculous. The thing is, even if there were a few side roads that were still icy, the county has an emergency bus route that they can use
As a kid I loved living in NC and getting out of school for snow that was supposed to happen but never did  But now as a working mom, forget it, what a pain!!!

that's the thing--- they don't have the equipment, and don't budget for contract plows or have sand and salt reserves.
it's the same thing here in the DC area. some counties blew through their entire yearly budget for snow removal with the storm we had in december. the storm we get this weekend is going to blow them out of the water (we're predicted to get b/w 16-24" here).

My school district is ALREADY closed tomorrow.

We live in Chesapeake VA & the schools where closed for 3 days!! Crazy! They don't have the equipment nor the budget to clear the roads. We got about 9 inches.

I teach out in BH, the day we had delays (Wed) we did get about an 1 1/2 inches of snow on the ground. It wasn't bad, but a little slippery.
