School Pictures

If I've never said it before, I'll say it now... I DO NOT LIKE SCHOOL PICTURES!! They almost always come out with SOMETHING wrong. Every year I think "I'm not ordering.. I'll save the money. I take plenty of pics on my own!"

And I drag out the albums and wince at the past years - no smile, fake smile, dirty face, silly face, etc..

But despite my resolutions.. I go ahead and purchase a package for each boy EVERY year. This year was no exception.

So when they brought their pics home yesterday I was pleasantly surprised to see they BOTH SMILED! And then.. I looked at the rest of the picture..

Noah is smiling (and I don't mind that his teeth are a little wonky.. he's 7 and they're growing in and falling out all at once!) - but I do find it annoying that his hair is a total wreck! He looks like he was dragged backward thought a bush!! Wild man of Borneo style. *sigh*

And Robbie.. at first I was really excited. It looks like a good photo! Yeah.. his hair is getting a little puffy.. but he's got a genuine smile and his glasses aren't too filthy.. but.. wait.. what's that? Oh.. THAT SHIRT! Yeah.. my husband got them some clothes on an outing with them a couple of weeks ago. Robbie was treated to a shirt that is sooo ugly and nasty looking. Two winged skulls facing a guitar. It's actually a little scary. But he loves it. And normally I'm fine with him wearing what he chooses.. but on PICTURE DAY? I KNOW that's not what I asked him to wear.

Oh well.. another year, another story! I'll never learn!

Here's Robbie with THAT SHIRT. Don't mind the quaility.. my scanner sucks. I'll post Noah when Rob tells me where he put his photos!

i volunteer at picture day every year. I make sure all the kids collars are nice, hair is neat, face is clean. I yell at kids who make funny faces. My standard line to them is, "if you make that face, your mommy is gonna kick my butt" They laugh and all is good. Oh and the bonus is my kid looks pretty good every year:)

I always say school pics are not for "now", they are for you to look back at 10 years from now and see how they looked. I am sure in a few years you will think his hair is adorable and he will have worse t-shirts that you are glad he didn't wear to school that day

I have been lucky thus far, the pics my kids bring home have been pretty good. My oldest is pretty photogenic but last year his was awful. Luckily they did a reshoot that came out good. Girls are even harder with the pics and hair. My own school pics are a testament to that LOL &

I have a friend who just buys the class pics and then takes her boys to Sears around the same time of year. I really should do that bc then I can get a pic of my 3 together. Also you are there to coax, harass, threaten, bribe...

We were spoiled in DD's preschool. They had a professional photographer come in. No cheesy backgrounds, nice outdoor shots and you can tell he put effort into capturing the kiddos.
Well here we are in K. Ugly boring backgrounds and the 3 standard poses. Blah! Ah well. At least they're cheap. I have to get them for tradition's sake but they will not get hung on my wall.

I ctually like his pics alot. Whats really wrong with it? he looks so cute!
DD just took some pics. I am crossing fingers that they came out great. I heard she did a great job so we shall see. The prep work with her outfit was a PITA the night before but I got everything together.
