School zoning question within the district
We live two blocks away from an elementary school we are not zoned for. The school we are zoned for is about 10 minutes away. This makes no sense to me. Can I call the district and possibly fight this?...My DD will be going to K next year so I have over a year to fight this.

Generally it is very hard to fight zoning. Chances are at some point you were zoned for the closer school, but as the population shifted, the area was rezoned and you were zoned for the other.
Also keep in mind if you do fight it and win, all of your neighbor's kids will be in a different school than your DD.

The same thing happened to us. We live blocks from the closest elementary school, there are 3 in the district. My son is zoned for the one furthest from our house. You could probably fight it if you had a good reason, but you probably won't get a bus.
