Schultz is gone. It's long.

We got a gift, he had a good weekend, Saturday and Sunday were our gifts, he was good, not himself, but good. We (Scott and I and both dogs) went for a few car rides, went through drive-thru for the dogs, Schultz got whatever he wanted all weekend. Last night at about 9pm his breathing became very labored, it continued all night. Scott and I were up most of the night with him. When I got up at 6am Schultz was coughing and I knew, he looked at me and I knew. His face spoke it all to me, Mommy, I'm tired. Scott and I talked about it, I called LI Vet Specialists, where he went on Friday morning and we took him this afternoon. He walked in with dignity, on his own, we weren't going to have it any other way.

It was all I could do, but I didn't cry in front of him the whole weekend or today. Last week when I first got the news I cried in his fur and he was so upset, he hates when I cry, he gets so upset. We got to hold him today and I didn't cry, because the last thing he ever heard was not going to be me crying.. I had my face in his fur, telling him I loved him and he went so quietly.

After we left the room I cried in the waiting room, I didn't care everyone saw me, they all love their animals or they wouldn't be there. Everyone at Long Island Veterinary Specialists in Plainview was kind and compassionate, I can't speak high enough about them. Dr. Tumulty especially, he is unlike any other vet I have ever met. They made a paw print impression for me, which was great, it was something I never go to do before.

oo patty both Billy and I are hearbroken over this. Maria called me up crying telling me to go online and read ur status. I am so shocked and saddened by this.

Please let me know if there is anything u need. I know u need ur time to grieve right now but i am here if u need me for anything.

Oh Patty, I'm so sorry. When I have to go through the same thing, I will think of how selfless and caring you were in his last days. He'll be waiting on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge for you.

I'm so very sorry. I know exactly what you are going through because I went through the same thing with my Figaro in December. If you need to talk, I'm here for you. It was one of the hardest thing I've ever had to do but just like with Schultz, he told me it was time.

Time will go by and you will make it through this. It's so hard at first, I know.

My heart breaks for you,truly. I know what it feels like to love a pet unconditionally and i dread the day when i know i too will have to say goodbye. I wish you peace. Know that you gave him a great life and lots of love.
