Screw you NYC DOE!
So today is payday right??? Well I didn't freakin get paid! I didn't get a check....I guess I am not even on the payroll and never was...the payroll sec has no idea when I will be on it....AND I cannot even get an emergency check because they have no record of me.
I am not even sure I have medical benefits if payroll has no record of me working

Oh boy...this has happened for YEARS and it's deplorable that nothing has been done about it. It happened to me too. 
What is it with DOE payroll secs sometimes? Is your chapter leader any good? Otherwise, I'd call the borough UFT office and raise a HUGE stink. Maybe go to Region payroll too.
Hope this is fixed for you soon!

Well she called regional payroll and they were not we can't give her an emergency check we have no record of her...W T F! Yeah thanks I need to pay bills here!

That sucks!! It's happened to me with jobs.
I'm going to be really cheesy right now...and feel free to tell me to STFU...but remember how sad you were 'cause you didn't have a job? You have one...you're a teacher!!  Try to focus on the good.
Bureaucracy sucks, I know. But you'll get paid. I hope you're not in too much $$ trouble!!

They aren't I have to wait for the next pay cycle...the Union Rep and Payroll Sec were like oh well...On Monday I am going to the UFT rep again this is BS!

It took me close to 60 days to get on payroll.....your papers are processed at the Regional office, then Tweed, then the school. I didn't get a check until the end of October!

That happened to me too when I first started working there... I didn't get paid until the end of October (not to scare you) and then they gave me a big chunk with tons of taxes taken out...it s ucks big time...
Then the following year, I changed schools and they discontinued my direct deposit just like that, which they aren't allowed to do.
I hope it works itself out earlier than October...
What region are you in? If you are in Region 5 I have a contact person you can call to try to get things moving faster...

same thing happened to FH - find your union rep and tell them - i believe FH got an "emergency" check or something until he finally got one.

That stinks. The same thing happened to me when I started. I think I finally got paid in October.
Some of the teachers I started with took emergency checks, but then ended up having to pay back the amount they took by having their future paychecks garnished. (Just FYI)

The first year I was working in NYC I didn't get my first check until October 18th. Then, I was rushing to get to the bank before it closed to cash it since I was SOO broke from commuting from Holtsville to Bushwick every day that I got my very first speeding ticket ever!
NYC is horrible with this, but they should be able to give you emergency checks. I was a late hire and wasn't in the system but they got emergency checks for me. However if you have anything saved up I'd recommend that over emergency checks because then they'll take the emergency checks out of your first paycheck all at once and you'll be left with barely anything anyway.
