SD having trouble finding an agency for services?
My school district is having trouble finding an agency to provide OT for my son. Has this happened to anyone? I called them today for an update & they said they would mail me the list they go off & I am going to help with calling since I know my schedule best. I had no idea it would be this hard & take this long.

Wow, that stinks! Have they tried Metro Therapy? That is who my son receives his therapy through at school. Outside of school we go to the Therapy Spot in Islandia (insurance pays for it)

I don't know if they tried them. I will see when I get the list, Do you know how much you are charged for your dc's OT? My insurance does not cover if I go outside of SD so it would be out of pocket for me.

I have alot of friends that go to NY Therapy. In EI we used Metro Therapy. If your child is in school they have to find someone if they have in on their IEP. Call the State if they are not complying.

OTs can be hard to find. Especially for school aged students. Is this for home based service or services at school? NYT pays well for school aged students so you might want to start there. They also recruit therapists more agressively. Just keep going down the list they gave you and make lots of calls! It almost seems at times as if there are more Kids that need OT than there are OTs on LI to service them.

Not home based. He is 3 but I will have to take him to their location, I am assuming. Once I get this list, I am calling everyone-lol

I'm not too familiar with agencies/clinics in that area. Maybe someone who lives in the area can help you out. Or I would start by calling agencies from the list that are located close by. Good luck!

Kidz Therapy is by Roosevelt field they have a nice gym. Also Kids first in Westbury about 10 min past Roosevelt filed. Not sure of agencies closer to you. I know of St Mary's I believe is near Roslyn.

Not sure of agencies but they really need to providing the services if they are on your son's IEP.
