sealing a driveway
When we bought our home, our agent suggested we "seal the driveway." We smiled and nodded and added it to the (ever-growing) mental list of things to do.
Now, a few months after the fact, we still have not sealed the driveway. Anyone have any advice on how to go about this? Is it necessary? I did a google and found a 'how to' video. I am guessing we can do it ourselves?
Any pointers or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
TIA

Re: sealing a driveway
you shld seal drive way. Water gets into tiny spaces of asphalt and freeze and will break it down & crack leading to more damage when more water gets into those cracks and freeze. We just got our d/w sealed and it was not that bad $190 or you can do yourself. messy though. good luck.

No way to do it yourself. Doesnt cost too much, esp on a small driveway. Maybe 150 or so.
Def needs to be done every year or 2. We have to do ours this mth.

Sure there is. DH does it every year, in early October! He buys 2 or 3 5-gallon buckets of the stuff, has a long-handled broom type of applicator and it takes him about 2 hours. We have a double wide driveway, 2 deep (fits 4 cars).
DH just wears his old gardening sneakers because they do get the black stuff on it!

Thanks for the info! I think 150-200 is very reasonable. If you have any specific company recommendations, please FM me.
But if DH is willing to get a bit dirty, maybe we'll try doing it ourselves

We used Sealing Long Island. We got a qoute on first phone call. He pulls your address up on satillite website to get a pic of your driveway. 2 guys came few days later and was done in 45min. It rained the next day & washed some tar away.. they came back and did it again at no charge the next day.
