On Monday night he had a rectal temp of 100.9. He was clammy, sweaty and totally unconsolable. He was screaming his head off for over an hour and nothing we did would comfort him. I called the ped and he said to bring him over right away
They drew blood and urine and all of that came back negative.
They had to do a spinal tap as well. The doctor went over why, etc and DH and I agreed to let them do it. The first set of cultures came back negative. The second set is due back in the early morning. If its negative, we can take him home. Because he is so young, they need to rule our meningitis and some other infections.
I lost it when they were sticking him with needles and he was screaming. I had to step away while Dh helped to hold him down
The staff and nurses at Good Sam are wonderful. They are there for all the little questions, and the doctors are consistently in his room checking on him
He is now 9 lbs 4 oz (after leaving the hospital 5 weeks ago at 6 lbs 5 oz ) and 23 inches long (from 21)
I am home to just grab a nap and some clothes for him. DH and I have been doing shifts so 1 of us can come home and sleep while the other stays with him

Everything came back negative!!
He is now home with me and sleeping in his bassinet after his bottle
The doctor said he had a virus. He had lots of antibiotics in the heospital, so he doesnt need any at home. And the doctor said to go right back to our normal routine. We can take him on walks and out if we want. MIL is having a meet and greet party for him Saturday - the doc said its great that he goes! He said to make sure he gets out. He just said to make sure people wash their hands before holding him.

Noah was in Good sam and they were GREAT! I agree its a good place to be at. But I remember how hard it was to sleep in that room with your baby, how sad it can be....so Im sending extra hugs to you..
