I am horrible about writing long papers as well. Wide margins, double spacing and large Tahoma 12 font is key. I can't understand some professors. First of all, why do they want to read 20-25 page papers from 25-30 students? And what ever happened to quality over quantity?
I have to say that I am basically a professional student...and I think maybe 5 of my papers have actually been read BY THE PROF. Yay for TAs and "department aides"
I don't get how they can grade you if they don't read it.
In my personal experience, the TAs use a rubric created by the professor.
Trust me, its a dumb practice.
I've had to challenge grades from TAs grading before.

I get to decide the topic and what problem I want to solve. It's pretty crazy from what I have viewed thus far. Looks like I will be reading the book ahead of time.

I love TA's that can barely speak english. Especially when they are teaching me calc. It was so much fun to try and decipher their words and also learn about the subject.

Yeah for a while. Until I couldn't stand their Computer Science Department anymore. It was so painful.
ETA: What is an algorizm? They always used to say that.

Well, I find it pretty sad. Why become a college professor in the first place then? And why demand long papers if you're not going to read them? What's the point? Require 10 page papers and read them yourself!

Well, I have a fabulous paper on the ethics of nanotechnology if you're interested...22 pages (with lots of pictures  )

Unfortunately from my experience at SB the Ta's get stuck doing most of the grading.
