searching for the name of a cake...

for three years now, i have been craving this cake, but can't for the life of me find it anywhere, and i don't even know the proper name of it Chat Icon

it all started when i worked at the milleridge inn-they would have a "chocolate mousse cake"..it was a thin, thin layer of chocolate cake, followed by a smear of raspberry jelly like stuff, and then a dark chocolate mousse, topped with ganache

dortoni's used to carry the cake, but the last 2 times we asked for it, they gave us a chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling--not the same

this year, i went in and they suggested the tortolla amore they carry, which isn't it either

any ideas? if you could find a name and a picture so i could ID the cake, i may love you forever and ever

Re: searching for the name of a cake...

Could they have been possibly following a pavlova-esque recipe?

None of these recipes are exactly what you said, but I'm wondering if any of them were the inspiration for it: Maybe you or a bakery could recreate it by just switching some things around but following the pavlova recipe for the thinness of the cake followed by the mousse.

pavlova 1
pavlova 2
pavlova 3

Why don't you just call Milleridge Inn?

I'm thinking Sacher Torte

This is what it is called at Dortonis, I think. Don't see it on their website, did see this Opera Cake:
Chocolate cake, chocolate fudge with thin layer raspberry jam, finished with chocolate ganache.
