how many of you already have a baby and are having trouble conceiving the second?

That's us. Although I am very very lucky that we know why. It must be so difficult when it is unexplained.

My son is 4. I got pg twice in 2005, both were ectopic, each one in a different tube. I lost one tube, and the other, we found out through the HSG test that it is not viable. We are now about to make the leap to IVF.

I had no trouble getting pg with my son, and had no risk factors for an ectopic. What we don't know is if the tubes were always a mess and my son is a "miracle" that made it through. I have been told now to avoid getting pg the "natural" way since it would be very risky for me.

My hope is that since we are getting pregnant every time we try, that IVF will be fairly easy for us. But who knows?

I think, at least in my own case, that secondary infertility raises a whole host of different emotional issues. I am glad the ladies on this board are so supportive.

yes this seems to be us too. it took me 10 months to get pg with my little boy. since september 06 we were trying and this past april my OB sent my husband for a semen analysis. His results were very low mobility and very few normal shaped. His test from 3 years ago was perfect. This caught us by surprise. He goes to the urologist next week, so we hope it is something treatable and simple. we havent talked much yet about options because we are not sure what they are yet. if we have to do fertility treatment we wil, but we are both afraid of IVF and its risk of multiples.

I have a son who is 3 and it took us 15 months to concieve him...guess I had IF then but didn't take action. HIs pregnancy was entirely normal.

For my second one, it took a yr to get pregnant, but miscarried. I then went IUI route and had a nother miscarriage. Second go round with IUI and I am presently 25 wks pregnant!
