Secondary Re-Opening Plans
If you teach MS/HS or have a student at that level what does your district’s plan look like?
I know most are hybrid, but what do the details look like? I feel like details are what are lacking. Kids come ever other day. We will wear masks and sanitize. That’s the plan. No details provided.
How are they handling passing time?
How are they cleaning the desks between classes?
If teachers are cleaning desks (NYS DOH said students should not do any cleaning), who is monitoring the hallways to ensure students are wearing masks and maintaining appropriate social distancing?
How are they modifying arrival and dismissal?
Are they shortening classes or keeping the same schedule?
Are separate teachers teaching the virtual only students or is the Traditional classroom teacher Teaching them in addition to the in-person? If so, have you received any training on how to do this?
What are they doing about lunch?
Are you still having study halls?
Are your schools 1:1 with devices or are you relying on students bringing their own devices?
Are any schools having overflow rooms for cases where the district enrolled more than 15 kids in person for a particular class?
Also do you know what level MERV filter your building has?
Thanks.

Secondary Re-Opening Plans
I am not a teacher, but our secondary plans are as follows: We are in school a full five days with an optional remote option. For secondary, remote students will be live streaming into their regular classes.
How are they handling passing time? They upped the time that they are in the hallways from 3 to 5 minutes.
How are they cleaning the desks between classes? They will have spray bottles in the classrooms and students can clean their tables when they get into class. Teachers are not required to clean the desks. They also are giving the students portable poly carbonate barriers that can be used as as desk top so they are not directly on the desks.
If teachers are cleaning desks (NYS DOH said students should not do any cleaning), who is monitoring the hallways to ensure students are wearing masks and maintaining appropriate social distancing?
Teachers and aides will be in the hallways assisting moving through the halls.
How are they modifying arrival and dismissal?
No time modification but they are opening all the doors for entering and leaving. They will directing students to use different entry points.
Are they shortening classes or keeping the same schedule? Classes will be one or two minutes shorter to add to the hall way time
Are separate teachers teaching the virtual only students or is the Traditional classroom teacher Teaching them in addition to the in-person? If so, have you received any training on how to do this?
No separate teachers in secondary. They classes are live streamed. Yes there has been a ton of professional development done and planned for the beginning of the year.
What are they doing about lunch? It is split between the cafe and the auditorium. They removed tables and put in desks that will be 6 feet apart. We are also allowing kids to eat in the various courtyards.
Are you still having study halls?
No. Kids will have a "free" period and can go to one of the open areas, cafe, auditoriums, courtyards, commons, library.
Are your schools 1:1 with devices or are you relying on students bringing their own devices? Every student has a device.
Are any schools having overflow rooms for cases where the district enrolled more than 15 kids in person for a particular class?
We can have 18 students in our rooms due to their size. They split as many classes as they could and hired teachers for them. Any classes that need to be larger, they are holding in larger spaces to social distance (LGI room, band rooms, library, etc.)
Also do you know what level MERV filter your building has? Our auditorium, cafe and gym have MERV 15 filters. All our other classrooms have new units that directly filter outside air and were approved by the state.

Secondary Re-Opening Plans
Mine is in 8th and they are staying in the same class all day and teachers move into the class. From my understanding at least. I've always sent mine with alcohol wipes, so she will wipe down her own desk. Lunch in the class also. No x time. Periods are down to 7 instead of 8 to account for the almost hour of temp checks in the morning for every student

Re: Secondary Re-Opening Plans
We are hybrid - an AA/BB schedule with Weds everyone remote.
How are they handling passing time?
For MS - 5th grade isn't moving. The other classes are moving and they are staggering bell times to accommodate students. No lockers will be used.
How are they cleaning the desks between classes?
They have removable/disposable desk covers.
If teachers are cleaning desks (NYS DOH said students should not do any cleaning), who is monitoring the hallways to ensure students are wearing masks and maintaining appropriate social distancing?
I am not sure
How are they modifying arrival and dismissal?
I am not sure
Are they shortening classes or keeping the same schedule?
I am not sure but they are staggering the bell schedule
Are separate teachers teaching the virtual only students or is the Traditional classroom teacher Teaching them in addition to the in-person? If so, have you received any training on how to do this?
What are they doing about lunch?
They will be eating lunch in specified areas. At the MS - they will be eating in the cafeteria, social distanced - half the grade will eat while the other half will be outside at recess. At the HS - they will be spread out into different areas and seniors will be allowed to walk off campus as usual.
Are you still having study halls?
Not sure (I only paid attention to MS lol)
Are your schools 1:1 with devices or are you relying on students bringing their own devices?
Every student will be getting a chromebook.
Are any schools having overflow rooms for cases where the district enrolled more than 15 kids in person for a particular class?
There will be less than 15 kids.
Also do you know what level MERV filter your building has?
There are numerous MERV filters throughout the district and different levels but, they are compliant.
Thanks.
