Secretary of Education
Throwing this out there since there is so much to be concerned about right now some are lost in the shuffle. I just saw that the founder of Success Academy, Eva Moskowitz, is a possibly for secretary of education. So disturbing.

Re: Secretary of Education
I have seen Michelle 'masking tape' Rhee's name mentioned too. She would be even worse IMO, and she was a chancellor so she might be more qualified. Both would be awful, for teachers and students.
Edited- it was not duct tape. Added a link in case anyone wants to see the story. All jokes aside, she is an awful person.

King is no prize either. He was a terrible choice and is the Secretary right now. He was detrimental to all special needs children and took away diplomas for many of our children. He was a disgrace when he was in NY and is more of a disgrace in Washington. Not a fan of Michelle Rhee though either.

I can't imagine either of the new choices have a good grasp of students with special needs either. Just wondering where all the great people are that Trump promised?
I vote Michael Hynes for secretary of education

Re: Secretary of Education
Speaking of education, I hadn't realized that Trump was FOR school of choice. That sucks for people in highly regarded districts. I bet the property taxes SKY ROCKET if that actually happens!

I voted for Clinton but think Eva would be a good choice. She has done wonders at Success Academy and I am all for charter schools.

Re: Secretary of Education
To be fair, Bush and Obama's education policies and leadership picks were also terrible for kids. Bush initiated NCLB with its standards and thereby its testing, and Obama came in an doubled down. Arne Duncan was the pits too! I wouldn't expect anything less from a conservative Trump that the continuation of the quest to dismantle the public education system.
Fortunately, the federal gov't' gives almost no money to school budgets, which means most educational policy happens at state level, and the grassroots climate on big gov't tampering with school has soured and turned angry by this point. I think education is one of those areas where we can fret about what might happen, but it will probably be a low legislative priority.
