Seeking... something?
As I've posted several other times... I have no supportive friends or healthy family in the area and could use some support. My parent's are on the island, but are not in good health, I see them once a month - usually me going there.
I was considering joining some sort of mom's "club"... I want to get out and meet other mom's, but prefer to meet other WORKING mothers. The friends I do have are all SAHM's and none of them seem to want to be part of our lives as if I guess I'm lesser of a mom than they are. I always have to hear too how "lucky" I am that I can get out without DD. Meanwhile I miss DD, yet my salary is necessary due to my student debt and to help build savings for my kids. I want friends who understand what this is like.
As I've also previously posted I'm expecting my second. I'd love for my kids to have play dates (DD does well with other kids at daycare) and for me to be able to socialize with other people like me. Even, and I hope this doesn't sound strange, but people who I can even count on to watch our kids in an emergency and I would do the same... you know, like friends and family do for most people - LOL.
Any ideas? Thanks so much in advance... you have no idea how much it would mean to me to have a network. I feel so isolated. Sure I have work, but all my co-workers are yound and unattached or men or both. I don't want my kids to feel my isolation as they grow here.

Re: Seeking... something?
I'm from Long Island. Just that most of my friends from high school have moved off LI to other states. College - I went to school out of state, no one I knew was from here in the first place. I moved back to LI when my mom had a stroke a few years ago. Work, one job I had years ago is where I met one of my now SAHM friends. Other friends I grew up with as a young child are SAHM's (not that many are even on LI still). Current job - my district has a few young unattached women and men. DH's friends are scattered in other places as well. He's from Queens and no one wanted to stay in his old neighborhood, then again, I went to Commack and none of my friends stuck around. I chat with them on Facebook, but it's not the same.
I live in Nassau now.

Meetup.com--you can join a working mothers group that's based in Nassau. I'm a member of a Suffolk based mothers group that's wonderful there.

This sounds good!
I think the GTG is planned for a day while I will be away at training for work.
I'm also open to meeting other mom's from here too. Being a working mom isn't a "requirement" just as long as there is mutual respect. One of my SAHM friends always talks like I put DD in daycare b/c it's the burden that is my existence... honestly, I think there are many advantages of daycare and prefer not to be judged. Sometimes I just think it's easier if someone understands via direct experience with the same situation. But I'm totally open to new friends.
