Selective Sitting

My 6 month old puppy only sits on carpet!
I cannot for the life of me get him to sit on tile. I think maybe he likes his butt to be warm butChat Icon

Has anyone else had this problem?
There is an area in my house that goes from tile to carpet and if I tell him to sit, he will walk over to the carpet and sit down. but never on the tile.

Re: Selective Sitting

I think it's because they don't have any grip on tile...Misty won't sit on the hardwood floor - she goes to the rug by the front door and sits there.

Re: Selective Sitting

Same problem here. My dog will squat a little but his butt is not on the ground. He is so low to the ground to begin with that it is hard to even tell that he is doing this.

Re: Selective Sitting

If I give rudy a treat he has to take it to carpet. Like the little rug we have in front of the door. I always laugh Chat Icon

Re: Selective Sitting

My Puppy does the same exact thing and it cracks me up!!!

Her crate is in the den, which is carpeted and when we let her out she is always running around in the den with us. The rest of the ground floor is all hard wood and she slides across it everytime she tries to walk and follow us (cutest thing), I think it is def. her paws though. We have a little patch of carpet that leads to the runner on the stairs and she ALWAYS just puts her butt down on that and waits for us.

Same here. Will NOT sit outside unless on grass. And will barely sit on hardwood floor. Poor baby likes a toasty butt.

Same here too. My lil one like to sit anywhere else but the cold floor. She doesnt have any protection on her tushy because her tail curls up but we laugh everytime we give her a treat on the floor she brings it on the carpet.

Mine does this too. Even with her regular dog food, she runs into the room with the carpet. I have crumbs everywhere in my house!

Re: Selective Sitting

Wow, I thought Iggy was the only one!
He just looks at me like he's saying "You expect me to sit HERE? I'm not doing that"
or if he's close he'll run to the carpet and sit. He absolutely does not sit anywhere that's not carpeted (he does sit outside). I put his but to the floor and he stands right back up.

Does anyone know what I can do???
