Semi-useless tidbit of info: re baby wipes in the hospital ( well St.Charles anyhow !)
FYI- Don't know if this goes for all hospitals ; but at St.Charles where we had my DS- they don't supply wipes; you have to use paper towels and moisten them in the sink- Just remembered this and how much of a PIA it was (especially as I was a c-section and couldnt get around well at first) ...So this time I will be bringing my own un-scented ones...Just thought I'd pass it on

hmmm, never heard of this. I wonder if St. Catherine's provides baby wipes I'm actually really surprised they don't get some from a supplier to suggest their brands.

They do this b/c it is not recommended to use pre-moistened wipes on newborns. They provide soft cloths that do need to be moistened to use, but it is better for the baby.

where i was (South Nassau) they felt more like dryer sheets - but when you moistened them with water they were very soft.
as soon as we got home we started using regualr unscented wipes and have had no problems.

Re: Semi-useless tidbit of info: re baby wipes in the hospital ( well St.Charles anyhow !)
The hospital where I delivered in CT used wipes. DS had a horrible diaper rash, which I'm pretty sure was from the wipes. I actually think it's a good idea that hospitals just use wet paper towels. I use the Kirkland brand wipes at home and he hasn't had any problems since then.

yup yup but they lady there actually recommned Viva papertowels at home.. which are super soft (dont know why) and we used those once we got home and then used sensetive wipes.... still use those papertowels to wipe her face etc cause she gets red if we use anything else.
Oh and I was at Huntington Hospital, no wipes just those dryer sheet things that had to be wet first and when wet were very soft for her tiny bum.

I'm sure they are a lot less expensive !Wipes add up !...Hopefully this DC will have no problems with the newborn wipes, because I definately can't see myself wetting papertowels at home and I personally dont know of anyone else who does this either once they get home- JMO

Re: Semi-useless tidbit of info: re baby wipes in the hospital ( well St.Charles anyhow !)
I took extra of those paper towels from St. Charles to use on the baby, because they were heafty enough for poopy diapers. When they ran out, maybe 2 weeks later, is when I started using sensitive wipes. They recommended the paper towels, which was fine with me.

I delivered at both St.Charles and Stony Brook and at both places they only used wet paper towels and to tell you the truth I liked it better in the beginning !!

Hi Kerry- At St Catherine's they supply gauze pads- you just wet them in the sink in your own room. No big deal really. We used the rest of the gauze pads when we got home, and when we ran out went onto Pampers Sensitive without an issue. Later on we changed to costco unscented without any problems.
