Sensory processing disorders?

My DS has been displaying a lot of negative behaviors lately that make me think he may have something like this.

Does anyone's DC have this kind of d/o and what were some of the "signs"?

What was the process to get diagnosed?

(After meeting with the ped)

Any info you can provide will be super helpful.

I am also located on the SS/Western Suffolk if you have any tips and am open to changing peds too.

Re: Sensory processing disorders?

Is there an actual dx for this? My kids have alot of sensory issues (even the ones not on the spectrum)

Re: Sensory processing disorders?

My daughter was just diagnosed with ADHD however we (my family and I) feel that it is more SPD than ADHD. I just learned today, thanks to a very helpful LIF'er that there is no dx for SPD and that is why the neurologist kind of shot down the whole SPD argument from me. I am having her evaluated for OT through CPSE but I am not confident she will qualify since her fine motor skills are very good.

Thanks. We are still monitoring him closely.

Not sure if this is just a "phase" or something more.

My DS has lots of sensory issues, but has not been diagnosed with SPD. Evaluated through EI. Gets OT and speech therapy.

Re: Sensory processing disorders?

I actually met with the ped this morning and he does not seem to think there is anything sensory/neurological at play.

He does however recommend I start by meeting with a child psychologist for an evaluation and to learn how to work better with a lot of his behaviors he is demonstrating.
