Seriously Sharp Painful (Agonizing) pain in my hips.. anyone else?

It started I guess last week, like one random day. So I ignored it.

Then this week it was a lil worse and happened like two days in the week.

Then yesterday it was like four/five times just on the way to work and another two/three times on the walk to the subway home.

Today – four/five times on the walk to work and I went EXTRA slow today to try to avoid it. Now I can’t even get up to go tink without sucking in my breath and trying not to whine out loud.

I’m pretty good with pain tolerance but this is bad.

It is my left hip and its painful as heck and its really sudden and sharp and sometimes will or won’t travel down my leg. Either way as soon as it hits my whole leg will become useless. I end up picking up my foot and using my other leg to hold myself up (or lean on something) It burns, hurts, tingles and feel like an electrical shock all at the same time.

It hurts SOOOOOOOOOO badly. I’m afraid to go tink and I can’t even imagine going to get my lunch. I tried to get up and walk every 10-20mins thinking it was just stiff, but honestly the more I walk the more it hurts.

Since I started yesterday with using my right leg to hold myself up…. I am now noticing my right hip is popping every time I put my full weight on it (walking or forced to hold myself up).

Anyone have this?

I actually bit the bullet and called the NP at the doctor’s office. Pretty much a “What the Heck is happening to me” type call. This is my first, ever, complaint during my pregnancy.

I had it from 24 weeks until about 30 weeks... it's relaxin hormone messing with your joints and pelvis....

the only things you can do is not sit in one place too long (long car rides are the WORST!) and stay hydrated....

there's no easy form of relief that I know of other than moving about.

I found that after standing up and walking a bit, it ususally improved somewhat. also, some chairs are kinder than others...

I will say, though, that my hip never was popping...
I bet your long train ride aggravates the situation Chat Icon

Re: Seriously Sharp Painful (Agonizing) pain in my hips.. anyone else? ( UPDATE )

so the NP called back

its hormones ...

HOWEVER being losely jointed has added a new twist.

She absolutely refuses to allow me to work in NYC anymore

No biggie since today is my last day

She wants me to go home immediately, prop up my hip on pillows, apply a heat pad and do not move at all

She's very unhappy with my commute. Frankly though, leaving right now, right now, does me no good. Chat Icon I would still have the 15min walk to the subway and the hour long commute on the LIRR so what's the diff of leaving right now vs in four hours?

I am torn.. I'm gonna go as long as I can and maybe take a cab to Penn Station as opposed to facing the heat of the subway.

Also, she got my results from my sono (high fluids, still breech) and warns me to stay hydrated and also even tho everyone gets occasional cramping or tightening I need to watch them and see if they become frequent. I have to make sure the baby keeps moving and I stay relaxed.

How things change in one week, eh? Chat Icon

Yup, I have had that, just as Wannabemom describes! I am 38+ weeks now, and have had it since June.

(I take amusement with the fact that obviously pregnancy is for the young (-ish), yet it can make you feel like a really old person sometimes!)Chat Icon

It is annoying, but at least it is not serious. You are going to keep getting reminders that there are many aspects to your 'usual' life which are a little much on your preggo body. Just remember to treat yourself right, and get the rest you deserve when you can!
