Serving size question
My DD is a really small eater when it comes to table food. I am having a hard time imagining how much table food is equivalent to a jar of baby food. For example, green beans....how many would she have to eat for it to be considered a serving? I swear, she eats like a flea and I do get worried about her lack of appetite.

Re: Serving size question
My grandfather always used to say "They will never starve to death, if they are hungry, they will eat."
In other words, as long as she is growing and thriving, I would not worry so much about how much food she is consuming, just that she is eating SOMETHING kwim?

Re: Serving size question
ive always wondered the same.....
the only thing i have ever really read about is #1- dont give them too much and overwhelm their plates with large portions....better to have them ask for more than to be too overwhelmed by what is on their plates....and #2- dont feed the protein first- feed the fruit and vegetable first...
lol- sorry i am no help...i find kinda of that the long string beans- hannah will eat about 5 or 6 of them- peas- she will eat like 7 or 8 child spoonfuls...broccoli- about 4 small florets...
and again, not the only thing she eats, i just think that k, enough of that, lets have a meatball, chicken, whatever...
hope this helps!
and ps- i find hannah eats better portions in the moring- a packet of oatmeal, a whole banana, a piece of french toast, a pancake, and egg with cheese...i find its easier to tell what they are eating in the morning....

Re: Serving size question
At a mommy and me class a food spealist came in and said that a toddlers serving size is a table spoon per age ( for ex: if your dc is 1 they should get 1tbs veggie, 1tbs meat/chicken or as foor a sandwich a toddler portion is half a sandwich) then when your child turns 2yrs old it would be 2tbs each of what ever you are eating. I was shocked because I always feel like my son doesn't eat but yet he'll eat a whole sandwich therefore it's sorta like 2meals. But if your child wants to eat more that's fine. This is what I was told. And my ped said a child will not starve themselves.

Re: Serving size question
I forget actually BUT I remember that I once figured out how to do this....It's something like a jar of baby greenbeans is 70 calories so I then figured out how many greenbeans were 70 calories...etc...etc..you couldnt go by the jar as being 4oz b/c that jar was greenbeans and water...you can go on a diet calculator to find out the amounts etc...
