Sesame Place or the Bronx Zoo with a 21-month-old?
DS is 21 months old and I suggested to DH that we take him to Sesame Place on Sunday. DH thinks he's too young and suggested the Bronx Zoo instead.
Which is more appropriate/fun for his age?
ETA: How are the lines at each place? DS was 17 months old when we went to Disney and didn't do well having to wait on long lines.

sesame is totally good for a kid that age but i think it may be too packed on a weekend. i vote for the zoo.

Re: Sesame Place or the Bronx Zoo with a 21-month-old?
I recently took my my 20 month old to both and I vote for the Zoo.
She LOVES Sesame Street but the characters freaked her out IRL. She cried uncontrollably at the Parade; we ended up leaving. She was ok with Elmo's World and the kiddie wave pool, but then cried again at the Treasure Hunt (which had all the characters). All the other kiddie rides were closed the day we went b/c it was raining off and on.
At the zoo, she really enjoyed seeing the animals (she loved the monkeys in particular) and riding the carousel. The zoo is also adult friendly, so you can visit exhibits while your DC is napping.
So I think the zoo all the way, unless you think your DC will be ok with the Sesame characters.
Also, the zoo is cheaper!

Re: Sesame Place or the Bronx Zoo with a 21-month-old?
we just took my ds 21 month to the bronx zoo and he loved it - plus even thoughit was ahot day it was so shaded at the zoo we were not really that hot
to save money you can pack your lunch and bring it in the stroller - i saw a bunch of people do that
there really wasn't any lines except for the monorail and that was 15 minutes at 1 pm - i heardgo there first - you can park by the monorail entrance
we got there at 10 when it opened and it was not crowded - we did the children's area in the morning because we heard it got crowded - my son liked that area
but he loved seeing all the animals - the polar bear was swimming in the water around 2 playing with a ball and was very cute
also if you do go there - it maybe cheaper to just a get amembership for you and your husband ahead of time and then you can go any time for a year - parking is 413 and adult admission for everythign is $30 - the individual premimum is $99 and is for 2 adults - kids are free under 3 and includes 4 parking passes to bronx zoo - plus you can go to central par zoo, ny aquarium, queens zoo with that membership

both will be mobbed on a Sunday. Out of the two I think Sesame is more fun. They are two totally different experiences though.

My kids love the Bronx Zoo. For me Sesame is too far for a day trip. If you go, get there early when it opens. Do the children's zoo first. It doesn't start to get really crowded until around noon.

I think either is fun for that age. I just got back from Sesame today and it can definitely be done in a day. If it's hot I would definitely do that. The zoo in summer heat is miserable IMO.

We just got back from Sesame Place today and Tyler LOVED it. Was able to go on all rides. LOVED the characters and the shows. He had the best time.

Re: Sesame Place or the Bronx Zoo with a 21-month-old?
The zoo is awesome. I am taking Liam to Sesame Place next weekend but, i wasn't into doing it until he was two. There is such a difference between 21 months and 2. But, I know people take younger children there.
But, Liam has been going to zoos for sooo long and LOVES them. The Queens zoo is smaller and the perfect size for little ones. There is a great petting zoo there too. But, the bronx zoo is just great also. You need a stroller there though. And don't go with the aim of seeing everything. DC will tire out way before that.
Have fun with whatever you decide.

I would go to Sesame Place now and save the zoo for the fall because a lot of SP is a water park whereas the zoo will feel nicer to go to in the fall. As for age ranges both are perfect for this age.
