This is the 3rd death of this kind in the last month that I have heard of. It's so sad.

This is such a sad story and just a shame that her parents did not provide an EPI pen for her at school.
For anyone struglling with epi pens being locked up, you can verify that your state allows children to self carry emergency meds (inhalers, epi pens) also, a Section 504 Plan can help you too in that it lists accommodations for your child.
Additionally, I am troubled that most are citing Peanut Oil as the culprit. Asian food is very risky for anyone with Peanut allergy. Most Peanut Oil is highly refined and the protein that causes reactions is destroyed in the process. Cold pressed peanut oil will have the proteins though.
But, I am going to guess that it was more likely that the entire kitchen was cross contaminated by peanuts since Chinese food is often prepared over and over in the same pans.
Chinese food is not a good choice for anyone with peanut allergy.

So sad indeed. Many parents who have allergic children are not educated well by their doctors...they often assume that their child's allergy is Mild and will resolve with some Benadryl.

Benadryl cannot save someone in ana. shock. It has no lifesaving properties.

Schools need to put the kabosh on food fests at school not only for safety, but for inclusion of all children in a classroom activity.
