Severe headache
All day yesterday I had a really bad headache, along with nausea - i haven't had either this whole pregnancy (12 1/2 weeks). I got home from work, took acouple of tylenol, took a nap, woke up and tried to eat a little something - vomited. Went to bed, woke up at 1 a.m. and couldn't go back to bed because my head is killing me. If I bend down it feels like it will explode. My doctor said to take tylenol and said if that doesn't work she will set me up with a neurologist. Anyone have these major headaches during pregnancy. Funny thing is that the first trimester was pretty smooth sailing and now all of a sudden I am dying!

Re: Severe headache
I have had a few really bad headache during the pregnancy. Some were so bad, I couldnt get my head up off the pillow. Tylenol and lots of water seemed to help, along with rest.
Also, sometimes caffeine helped me. Maybe try a 1/2 cup of tea/coffee/soda.
Feel better.

Re: Severe headache
I got really bad headaches for about a week and a half. I was practically living on tylenol. I would take it, the pain would go away for about 2 hours and then come back full force. My dr said it was normal to get bad headaches from about 12 weeks to 16 weeks and then it should stop. I just found sleeping as much as I could was the only thing that really helped.

Re: Severe headache
I got headaches in my 12th week, and now, in my 14th week they seem to have subsided. Every now and then i might get something small, but not as bad as the beginning. Tylenol is totally ok to take, but if it doesnt help, i would think about seeing a neurologist.

Re: Severe headache
Thanks for all the replies. I just had some caffeine and it does feel a little better. I had no idea that it was common in the 12th to 14th week. Usually, I have an appetite, but since my head hurts, I don't want to eat. That probably is contributing to the pain!

Re: Severe headache
I got severe headaches starting around 12 weeks. It was horrible. I haven't got one in a week ( I am 17 weeks) and hopefully they wont come back. I took tylenol but that didn't really work. I hope they go away for you. The only think that really helped was lying down with my eyes closed.

Re: Severe headache
I've never been pregnant- but it sounds like a migraine. And my sister- who never had migraines- started getting them during her pregnancy. Her Doc told her it was due to the hormones.. Feel better!

Re: Severe headache
I had bad headaches throughput my first trimester, they went away in the second trimester, and now in the third trimester I get them on and off during the day. Now they last a shorter time and they are not as bad as the first trimester. I find drinking lot of water and having some caffeine helps me.
I hope you feel better.

Re: Severe headache
I have been getting them on & off recently. Take a couple of Tylenol and drink a cup of caffeinated coffee as the others suggested, my Doctor also said its normal. I have been getting them despite drinking lots of water. Feel better
