Share Your TTC Tricks!!
Since there are some newbies on the board, I thought I would start this thread. For the ladies that have been trying for a while, share your tricks so the newbies can learn. Here are mine:
1)Read TCOYF and use the corresponding computer program for charting
2)OPK's
3)Daily temping
4) BD every day or every other day during fertile period (I have tried a few variations of this) with Preseed. Legs up for 20-30 minutes after.
5) Vitamins, etc: Prenatals, vitex, EPO (only up to ovulation), B6, low dose/baby aspirin
6) Mucinex, lots of water, baby carrots and grapefruit juice during fertile period to help CM along
WHEW! What a long list.
So as not to scare the newbies, these are things I have accumulated during the past 4 months of TTC and did not all start at once.
for all!

Re: Share Your TTC Tricks!!
I think if I was starting I would be scared too! LOL Seriously, this is a great idea and will help so many newbies TTC.
I have acquired all the above over the past few months of TTC. This month we will BD every other day and hope that helps and I stocked up on preseed. We "winged" it first 2 months and went to the dr. for prenatal vitamins. 3rd month got TCOYF book (loved it) and the fertility software is easy to use and always on my comp, started temping this month. going into the 4th month..preseed, continue to temp, green tea, and will bd every other day starting at day 10. GOOD LUCK ALL wanting to, TTC, and planning.

Re: Share Your TTC Tricks!!
Here is my trick:
1) RELAX and have a good time BD every other day. This should be fun, and even for a perfectly healthy couple can take months. There is no magic to the process.
Edited to say: Save the worry and intensive efforts for when you haven't had luck after six months or so, then have a chat with your doctor. My relax approach is directed at the folks who are new to the process!

I'm sure you mean well and I'm glad if it worked for you, but just relaxing certainly hasn't worked for me and, unfortunately, for many other ladies on here. It makes me sad and frustrated to hear "just relax and it will happen."
These are some tips that I am using and what they are for. Maybe they help, maybe not, but it's worth a shot and at least I feel like I am doing something.
1. To increase EWCM - Evening primrose oil daily until O, green tea from CD 1 to O, grapefruit juice, baby carrots, lots of water, preseed. 2. To pinpoint fertile period/ovulation - Ovulation predictor kit, daily temping/charting 3. BD the day of the first positive OPK and two days after. BD the third day just to be sure.
I think I'm about to be out (again), so next month I am going to add baby aspirin and maybe Vitex too.

Re: Share Your TTC Tricks!!
a search on vitex - agnus castus - chasteberry should get you lots of info. on it. I'm on my second cycle of vitex and have found that for me it is excellent, but it doesn't work for everyone. for some it almost has reverse effects.
I take prenatals, B complex, vitex, green tea and white unsweetened grapefruit juice until O, lots of water, use Pre' (like preseed, but different application), BBT and CM charting, OPKs.
Now I'm starting with a RE next cycle so if I don't get lucky with a BFP this cycle then I'll have a whole new plan....who knows though, right now I have the most beautiful triphasic chart going! Wish me luck!

Mucinex (blue tablets) or plain robitussin are used to thin out CM. The key ingredient is guaifenesin and you want the mucinex or robitussin with guaifenesin as the ONLY ingredient.

Re: Share Your TTC Tricks!!
1-monthly charting
2-evening primrose oil, day 1-15,
3- daily dose of Vitamin B6
4- I have stopped using OPKs b/c they make me crazy
5- I just entered the 2WW....if I do not get a BFP this month, I will start on baby asprin as well.
I have used the grapefruit juice/carrot thing before, but it did nothing for me other than give me a stomach ache (too acidic)
I'm not taking prenatals until I get the BFP....they constipate me. Instead, for now, I take a daily multi and an extra dose of folic acid

Re: Share Your TTC Tricks!!
oh, one more trick. I know this is an old wives tale, but I keep my legs in the air for a while after. DH thinks I'm crazy but I don't care.
I don't think that's really necessary....gravity brings those little spermies where they need to go. But I just do it to give them an extra chance. Probably does nothing.....but I do it anyway.

Re: Share Your TTC Tricks!!
the month we conceived we used preseed, and i also took mucinex for a cold. i'm not really sure if any of these improved my chances of conceiving, because i had used them in previous months TTC without any luck.
as i've said before, the one thing we did differently the month we conceived was BD every other day.
oh, and for all those who tell you "it won't happen unless you RELAX" - the month we actually conceived we were both sick with horrible colds and took two days (16 hours) worth of standardized testing on which our careers depend - all within 2 days of ovulation. so... relax or stress out, it doesn't matter... it will happen if it's gonna happen, in my experience...

Re: Share Your TTC Tricks!!
Joe and I will start TTC after his reversal. I hope this will happen soon, but right now the $3500 needed is a little to much for us. I read here to learn new things, but the lingo is REALLY hard to understand. The chat lingo index helps with some, but maybe in this thread you could explain some of the words you're using. Sorry if i'm being difficult or to new, but thanks for all of the GREAT ideas so far.....Joe is already with all of the things I want to try and do when we're ready

EPO is an herbal supplement in a gel capsule form. It is taken up until ovulation to promote CM.
