Sharp Pains at 5 weeks?

I have my first appointment with the doctor tomorrow but tonight I am getting really sharp pains in my lower abdomen and back cramps.

I've been feeling a tightness in my abdomen the whole time, but this evening it's a little different.

I've also been really tired all day. Like I picked up the phone before and I thought to myself that I didn't remember it being that heavy.

Is this normal? Chat Icon

hey '07 bride! I didn't even know you were pregnant! welcome and congrats!!!

the fatigue is very common. mild pulling / cramping is also common... sharp pains/back pain I'm not too sure about... definitely tell your OB about that tomorrow...

Hi! Thanks so much!! Congratulations to you!

I posted before I saw another thread about the cramping too.

I skipped the gym tonight because I was so worried I don't even want to move.

The fatigue is extremely common, I was exhausted right from the beginning. Definitely discuss the "sharp" pains with your doctor tomorrow, as long as you aren't bleeding I wouldn't worry

thanks!

yeah, I think you made a good decision by skipping the gym. just rest, don't lift anything heavy, and drink a good deal of water...

good luck Chat Icon

Welcome to the world of extreme exhaustion! Chat Icon

As for the pains, I remember feeling all sorts of stuff at the beginning, and still occassionally now. Definitely discuss everything with your doc, but I am sure all is okay!

Thanks so much everyone! I feel much better now. I had planned on waking up early tomorrow to go walking but I think I am going to skip that until I see the doc.

I feel much more at ease now!

I've had cramping and lower back pain on and off. I'm 7 weeks tomorrow, had a sono on Monday and all was fine, so I'm sure you are too. You're little nut is growing!

Re: Sharp Pains at 5 weeks?

Thanks so much for asking! I was just about to post!

The dr said that instead of being 5.5 weeks I am more like 4. This seemed so weird to me because I thought you just counted from the last AF. She even estimated I was at 5.5 weeks when we were talking before she examined me.

She did an ultrasound and saw that my uterus lining was thickened and also that there is a cyst in my left ovary forming which she said is necessary for the nourishment of the baby.

She also gave me a blood test and I have to go back on Monday for another one. By Monday afternoon she should be able to tell for sure how far along I am.

I asked her about 100 times if she is 100% sure I am pregnant and she said yes. LOL!

oh that's good news Chat Icon

I hated enduring all the nervousness of the first trimester... I was super-paranoid after I had some minor complications....
