She ate table food!

FINALLY! Chat Icon

Grace has been tasting table food here and there for a week now. So today I said no baby food for lunch, table food only. All of you know how she would gag and throw up on table food since she was 9 months old, so I was very leery about trying a whole meal of just table food. Well, I think she is hooked on table food, LOOK!

She ate:
2 TSBP's of Hummus
1 TBSP of mashed up avacado
1/2 a slice of Turkey
1/2 a slice of cheese
a few bites of whole grain sprouted bread
5 oz of milk

All the food was cut up small, but she ate it without gagging!!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Oh yeah, she is standing on her own and walking with the push walker everywhere. I am not pushing the walking too much because with me still recovering and family here helping, if I had a Grace running everywhere my family would be exhausted and never want to help out again. Chat Icon

ETA: Moms of kiddies who just started eating table food or BTDT moms...
What healthy, organic foods (veggies, fruit, whole grains, fish, meats, cheeses, etc.) did you give to your DC? I want to stay away from grilled cheese, mac & Cheese, etc. I don't want her to develop a taste for "comfort foods" just yet. Bad enough DH introduced her to ice cream last week and she LOVES it now. Re: She ate table food!

Gianna loves grilled zucchini, peppers (no skin), peas, cooked carrots.

Hummus, any kind of bean.

She eats all sorts of cheeses-Mozzarella, Ricotta, grated cheese, cheddar, provolone, american cheese

Pasta any way is her absolute favorite besides cheese.

She also eats any kind of fruit we put in front of her-melons, watermelon, peaches, pears, apples, pineapple, mango, kiwi.
We "think" she had a reaction to fresh blueberries, so I have to try them again, but she loves those too.

She eats whole grain breads, whole grain raisin bread. Waffles, whole grain english muffins.

I only give her chicken and turkey, we don't eat much beef anyways. But breaded chicken, turkey cheeseburgers, even turkey manwich she eats up.

In the beginning we cut everything up in small pieces, I gave her meats last since she chews them forever.

Of course every once in awhile she gets grilled cheese-she could eat it everyday. Gianna really didn't start with table foods until about 11-12 months old.

I know. Chat Icon Although, I have a feeling that once she starts walking, she is going to be running around everywhere. I start cardiac rehab in 2 weeks, so I am hoping I can keep up with her. Chat Icon

Gianna will be 14 months on July 2ndChat Icon

Since grace has a big gag reflex, I would try the beans slowly, Gianna doesn't have big gag reflex, but at first she did gag a bit, same with the ricotta-she won't eat it alone-I have to mix it with pasta or veggies.
