She had a slight fever.

She has a slight fever, it's 99.1 right now. I know it's not hight but on Sunday we were exposed to strep throat (didn't know 2 people were sick til the next day). So I'm worried. She isn't herself, she is wimpering and fussy - but not gassy fussy, she is just not herself.

Poor baby. Keep her hydrated. Keep an eye on her temp. My peds rule is that if it goes over 102 call em!

Re: She had a slight fever.

If her temp was taken regular that's a normal temperature. My doc said not to be concerned until it's over 100.4 for a rectal.

Our ped told me the same thing and since she is so young, if it goes to 100.4, she has to be hospitalized and have a spinal and all sorts of tests.

I just dont need this.Chat Icon

Don't worry, those little ones are a lot stronger and resilient than you think. I'm sure she will be fine, and just so you know 99.6 is my daughter's normal temp at about 6pm. remeber temps vary at all times of the day. If you were exposed over the weekend, you would of already had symptoms, it usually takes 48-72 hrs for symptoms to rear their ugly heads, I think she is already out of the woodsChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I'm concerned about the whimpering & not being herself. If you're still worried, call your pediatrician immediately. Trust your instincts. Hopefully you can make it to the morning with no increase in temperature. They tend to go up at night. I would still make an appointment for tomorrow.

I wouldn't worry too much. Babies actually don't get strep throat. I can't remember why but when I had it my ped. wasn't worried because he said babies just normally don't get it.

99.1 is actually normal for my daughter. I would use the 100.4 rule as well. Hope she isn't sick....Chat Icon

I remember feelign the exact same wasy because 99.something is too darn close to 100.4. I actually called the after hours number and when I told my ped he had a temp of 99.4, my ped said "Good for him. That is perfectly normal". He reassured me he was fine and that helped.Chat Icon
