Re: Shin Splints
OMG yes. I had to quit track in high school because of it.
Be careful with it. Shin spints are actually small fractures on your bone. My bones are so bumpy from them, you can see the bumps through the skin.
I don't know of any cures though.

Re: Shin Splints
No cure...I was told keep running! Your body will not ache from them anymore.
I dont run anymore. I just walk.

Re: Shin Splints
You may need to get fitted for special insoles. Have you gone to a podiatrist?
Sorry you are having this problem. I was having this problem when I first began to work in Manhattan & I got these funky walking shoes that have a small strap instead of laces. I don't get them hardly ever anymore.

Re: Shin Splints
I think alot have to do with shoes (there is only one shoe I don't get them with)
also if you run on grass it helps lower the impact - or sand if you can get to the beach

Re: Shin Splints
I used to get them when I was running a lot in college... I found that running on a real track really helped - some of them are actually "padded". They are usually orange or red in color. I think the Syosset High School Track is like this.
Also, running on the grass lessens the impact but I didn't really like that - too dirty / buggy.
