Actually, I've been reading they really shouldn't wear shoes till they are walking. There is no need, and some doctors think it could hurt foot development. Booties are fine.

Re: Shoe sizes

As with baby clothes, I think it really depends on the maker of the shoe. My son is 11 weeks and the 0-3 month Gap shoes the he has are still big on him.

I find it very difficult to actually keep shoes on him. He tends to kick a lot and the shoes are constantly coming off so usually I just keep him in socks.

I have heard this too, no shoes even after they walk unless necessary....

If we go out then I put shoes on my DD. She'll be 6 months on Thursday. If we are in the house then she wears socks.

I think you are better off waiting until she arrives. My DS has such chubby feet (he wears a double wide) and all those adorable booty type shoes never fit him. My DD can fit into the booties but she kicks them off so it isn't worth the hassel for me to wonder where it dropped.

Those shoes never stay on so I would not buy too many until she is here and you can measure her foot.

Re: Shoe sizes

Yup its not just size, but also width. I have friends that started in a three when walking, and others that started in five. Any shoes more solid than Robeez (basically a soft leather sock) are a bad idea before they can walk.
