Shoes/Sneakers - Laces or Velcro?
Which do you prefer for toddlers?
I guess velcro is easier to put on and take off, but also easier for toddler to take off... Do laced shoes stay on toddlers better?

I can't get DS velcro. He thinks it's a game to take them off the second he's in his car seat or stroller. However, I bought him fire engine Teva's and he can't get both of the velcro closures undone on those!!!
Laces work for us but they have to be double knotted!

My DS can untie and unvelcro. He has been able to do this since about 5 mos. He drives me nuts. I just get slip ons at this point if I can.

I get nervous with laces, although I am not at that stage yet.
Whenever I ask someone to tie MY shoe for me, it's always so tight, I am afraid I'll cut off DS's circulation!

We have only done velcro so far since DD likes to put her shoes on herself. She takes them off in the car too but it only takes 2 seconds to put them abck on again.
As for laces, I know something called "the magic tie" that I learned years ago -- i am a teacher, and whenever i have to tie a students' shoes I do it this way and it does NOT come undone from playing, but comes undone easily when you untie it. One day I'll have to make a video of it and post it on youtube, it really is awesome.

DS has velcro. It lets him be independent with putting his shoes on and off. He's 5, so it's OK at this point. DD has velcro, but she's 2, and takes them off whenever she wants.... 
I still like the velcro rather than the laces. I'm always worried that laces, no matter how well they are tied, will come undone and trip DC.
