When did you start putting shoes/sneakers on your DC
Jack is pretty much cruising now - my mom is all over me to put shoes on him - I'm being lazy.
Should I go to Stride Rite now for sneaks?

when a child is learning to cruise / walk barefoot is best
once he has walking mastered, then I would get him some walking shoes

i put them on her as soons as she started to walk, the stride rites are so thin that they can feel the floor (walking shoes) but it took a good 3 days before she was comfy in them... now we have all types...

Re: When did you start putting shoes/sneakers on your DC
DD always wore shoes and i would get ones for when she crawled...Stride rite has them and so does Target. They are made for crawlers.
As for Stride Rite....here my suggestion.
Gianna who isnt walking yet had recently got a pair, a gift, and they are definitely sturdy and help in standing and balance but.... she is already ruining them because she is still crawling.
KWIM?
SO until he is officially walking..I would hold off. JMO

Re: When did you start putting shoes/sneakers on your DC
I bought them at 10 months from stride rite, only because he was already walking and got a splinter from our porch.
And, my mother flipped when I sent her a pic of Josh at barnes and noble storytime barefoot he was slipping in the socks

Re: When did you start putting shoes/sneakers on your DC
Intereting.
Honestly - I have about 10 pairs of sneaks/shoes in his closet - just have no clue if they would fit him.
And, I'm lazy. He fights me to put his socks on - he'll probably beat the crap out of me if I have to squeeze those little chunkas into sneakers.
Maybe I'll start with whatever I have bought in his closet - and take it from there.

Re: When did you start putting shoes/sneakers on your DC
Daycare asked us to put them on Lucas when he started pulling up because he kept slipping and he did a great job with them on his feet. We asked the pediatrician and he said that while he supports the idea that barefoot is best, he would rather Lucas have shoes then have to meet us in the ER
I do have to say that as the weather gets warmer I will let him walk around the house barefoot.

Anthony has wide feet and I got him extra wide Stride Rite sneakers and they went on to easy...

haha, this made me LMAO
Thanks for reading my mind on this because I was curious myself and was going to ask. I put sneakers on him sometimes just because they look cute (like twice per month). he also has a lot of sneakers but he curls his toes when I try to put them on him so it isn't worth the hassle. In the winter I just put booties on. Now that he is getting older and is going to eventually "cruise" I was curious what I should do.

Wait until he's walking well, then start with the sneaks. And I KNOW you have a nice pair of stride rites already
