Short cervix
My cervix is shortening fast, I'm due Sept 11 and they pulled me out of work starting this week, although they will allow me to work from home. I'm on a modified bedrest, which means I can still do things but limited activity.
Has anyone gone through this and if so when did you deliver?
I have been given the sterroid shot to help develop the babies lungs, my FFN came back negative which is good and I'm on medicine to stop mild contractions which I didn't even know I was having.
Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Short cervix
I had a shortened cervix - it was found at 24 weeks. I spent the next 12 weeks on bed rest until I went into labor. I actually took myself off of bed rest at 35 weeks and went into labor a week later.
You'll probably go for sonograms to measure your cervix weekly, until they can no longer do it (at one point it becomes too dangerous to get internal sonograms - it can actually send you into labor). I want to say that was at 28 weeks.
If your cervix is shortened, and you have more than 8 weeks to go I would take it extremely easy - I would get out of bed to shower, eat and use the bathroom.
Good luck and keep us updated!

Re: Short cervix
I had a shortened cervix and preterm labor at 25 weeks with my girls. With bedrest and Tocolytic drugs I was able to keep them in until 35 weeks...
I would lay down as much as possible, no lifting of any kind, dont stand for long periods of time etc...
Im sure everything will work out it sounds like your doctors are taking appropriate precautions..

Re: Short cervix
It started happening to me at 27 weeks. I didnt end up delivering till 5 days before my due date.
Iw as on modified bed rest with FFNS and cervical length sonos till 36 weeks and then they "let me do whatever" at that time , although I went for monitoring.
Hang in there, just rest, it can stop as mine did.

Re: Short cervix
I was put on bedrest at week 27 or 28 for a shortenend cervix with a positive FFN. I was on total bedrest, only getting up to use the bathroom and shower and laying down rather than sitting up. I took the directions very seriously and did what I was supposed to...and Im glad I did...they took me off of bedrest at week 37 and I went into labor a few days later.

Re: Short cervix
Thanks everyone. I have one more visit next week for a cervical length and then the following week another FFN at 32 weeks and then they will stop doing that.
I have reduced my activity alot, which is extremly hard but I need to keep this baby in a bit longer.
Thanks for sharing your stories.
