Short Luteal phase

Okay I am self diagnosing again, but if the OPK was right then my luteal phase is only 11 days at most. probably only 10 days. Does anyone else have a similar problem? I have read that taking a B-6 supplement can help. Should I call my GYN or is he just going to think i am crazy? this is only after one month of data but everything I am reading says it wont vary by more than one day. Should i give it one more month of OPKs and see if it is this short again? ANY AND ALL advice would be appreciated.

Re: Short Luteal phase

Are you temping? That would be my first step. Do you have spotting before AF? I did increase my LP with B6 and B12 so I would definitely try that.

Re: Short Luteal phase

I was diagnosed with a short luteal phase (10-12 days).
I increased my vitamin b6 but also went for acupuncture.

It may be a coincidence but my luteal phase was 14 days within a month of starting acupuncture.

Temping and charting can help you identify what might be an issue.

Re: Short Luteal phase

I had a lot of spotting prior to ovulation. No real spotting before AF though. I am going to get some B6 & B12 supplements & start temping this month in addition to the OPKs. Hopefully that will tell me something....

Thank you!

Can you tell me where you go for the accupuncture and is it a particular type of TTC accupuncture? Sorry if this is a stupid question.

Re: Short Luteal phase

i had similar concerns while TTC. i was convinced that this was going to be a major issue for me. my LP is 12 days at the longest, but often shorter than that. on the month i conceived it was only 10 days, which i suspected at the time, and which was confirmed at my 8 week ultrasound.

i'm not sure what my issue is, or if there even is an issue, but i do know that my body was able to do what it needed to do in that 10 day LP. i've also been able to maintain my pregnancy for almost 12 weeks now without any outside intervention (knock on wood a gazillion times). who knows, maybe this pregnancy was a fluke, and perhaps i will have fertility troubles in the future. or my LP could just be what's "normal" for my body. time will tell.

i think the bottom line is, a short luteal phase may or may not present a problem for you while TTC. personally, i would give yourself a few more months to see what happens - temp, use OPKs and get a sense of your LP over time. GL

Re: Short Luteal phase

for 5 months my luteal phase was about 14 days, I got PG but then had an early M/C, now my luteal phase is 11 days!! I am also wondering the same thing as you. I have my annual exam coming up in May, and if I don't get pg by then I am going to mention it to my DR. and also by then we will have been trying for 10 months, so hopefully I can move on to testing if I am not pg.
