should i call the Dr.? UPDATE

UPDATE: Thank you all! I took your advice and called my Dr. She had me go to L&D where they monitored the baby's heartbeat and did an ultrasound. Everything turned out fine.

Baby was perfect. She measured exactly to date, my fluid level was normal, and she was moving a ton, I just couldn't feel it. I wonder why!!

I got to see her looking the most baby-like i've seen her look yet and I even got a little teary when I saw her face. The tech got a close up of her nose and lips and I could see her little mouth opening and closing. It was really amazing. And of course i feel much better.... so thank you all for urging me to call...

I dont know what to do... I've gotten worried about lack of movement once in the past and it turned out to be fine... and I tend to be a generally anxious person to begin with, so i don't know how much is valid and how much is just me.

It took me a long time to feel the baby but for the past week or two, I've been feeling her regularly (ie. multiple times a day, throughout the day, especially after eating). For the past two days, I haven't felt her at all. Everyone keeps telling me not to worry, but how can I not worry while doctors are always stressing to monitor movement... so do I call because i'm not feeling her or do I not worry... I hate to be one of those crazy pregnant women who call the Dr constantly, but i just don't know what to do.

ETA: I'm 30 weeks

Call..they get this a lot, they will check on Baby. The stress is not good for you or baby either. My Dr. said to call anytime, and they will do a quick heart beat check. Often the baby has turned a way that you cannot feel them. I sure all is well, but two days of not feeling, warrants a visit Chat Icon Hang in there mamma..these babies love to scare us.

If you haven't felt any movement at all. I would definitely call! Your OB can check and make sure everything is ok with LO. They might tell you to go to L&D but hopefully they can just see you in the office.

Call the doctor. My OB always stressed that I should call if I wasn't feeling movement. He said you wouldnt look in the crib and say wow my baby hasn't moved all day, I'll call the doctor tomorrow. I am sure everything is fine, but don't wait to call.

The crazy part is that I'm so anxious about it that I'm not really sure if i've felt movement. I know that doesn't make sense but I'm certainly not feeling the obvious movements i've been feeling before... and anything more subtle i'm not sure about...

It definitely makes sense. Call the Dr for sure! But what they told me to do is go into a dark quite room, lay down and put my hands on my stomach.

Im sure everything is fine. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I would call but in the meantime, drink some juice or something sugary and lay down and be still and wait to feel something,, might help!

Call, I went to the hospital twice for this when I was pregnant with my first. I think it was partly my anxiety, but it's not something to mess around with. My doctor was always glad I called and the l&d nurses said the same thing, better safe than sorry. I had an anterior placenta, do you? It made it harder to feel the baby. In the meantime, drink some juice and lay on your side! Don't stress, it's common for the baby to have some quiet time.

i would drink some oj (or fi you have stayed away from caffeine, have some coffee) then lay on your left side and see if you feel the baby. if not, call the doctor.
my LO is super lazy too, and i had the same concern saturday....felt it friday night then nothing all day saturday. thankfully around midnight i was in bed and felt a lot of movement.

Re: should i call the Dr.?

I would definitely call. At 30 weeks you should be feeling the baby. Drink some orange juice and see if she makes any movement.

Drink/eat something with sugar and then lie down for an hour or so. If you still don't feel any movement, then call the dr. Often I'm so busy and moving during the day that I think I haven't felt the baby all day. But then when I stop and think about it, I feel him.

Re: should i call the Dr.?

Drink some coke and call if you dont feel anything within a few minutes. My babies wouldnt repond to candy, but coke with the sugar and caffeine always got them moving. Sometimes it was just the position they were in.

Re: should i call the Dr.?

I'd call and then I'd drink a glass of juice and do kick counts until I went to the appt. Hope everything is ok.

should i call the Dr.?

I had a similar problem a few weeks ago -- I called the doctor and they had me come in for a sonogram and monitoring. He is completely fine, but they said I did the right thing by calling. Now I've been told that if I feel like I don't feel him again I should drink some juice or eat something with sugar and lay down. If I don't feel 5 movements within 1 hour, start another hour. If at the end of the second hour I don't have 5 kicks, call the doctor. I would try that first if I were you and then call the doctor. Better safe than sorry!!!

Good luck and keep us updated!

What a relief, it's good that you went. I rememember with some of my pregnancies the baby moved alot and with others not so much. I think sometime they get in a good spot and get comfy :)

Re: should i call the Dr.? UPDATE

There are times baby moves a lot more. During the day walking around creates a cradle rocking effect and babies sleep. They move a lot at night! Glad everything is ok!!
