Should I keep trying carrots? First foods question?

DS tried his first veggies..carrots...he took a few spoonfulls but then starts making a face like he sucked a lemon and shakes his head (almost like a chill). Also..kind of looks like he wants to gag??? ummmm do i keep trying carrots or forget b/c he doesn't like them?? (i've heard it takes a few times for them to like something) but is this reaction normal..or does he really hate carrots..

Uhhhh I hate food..eating...questions....totally stressing and don't know why.. sooo annoying!!!Chat Icon TIA

ETA: he is 6 months old and loves his cereal.

I'm not one to give advise since Mason is not the best eater, but if he's doing well with cereal I think you should keep trying it. It's the 3 day rule so you can't go wrong (well, you can if you're wearing it Chat Icon Chat Icon )

If he really hates it after a few bites of trying then just give him cereal after or mix some carrots in the cereal

Good luck girl! Chat Icon

DS used to make that face even when he liked something Chat Icon Absolutely keep trying them, if he refuses mix it with something a bit sweeter or something you know he likes.

He's going to change his mind 10246943782 times in the next 17 years over what he does and does not like, so don't stress it Chat Icon Chat Icon

Once you start mixing your foods, you can try to mix carrots with sweet potatoes or carrots with squash (Hope he likes those at least) my kids HATED carrots and that was the only way I was able to get it in them..

Believe me... I totally understand. Try having a kid who hates anything but really pureed foods. Now I just give him what I know he likes. I hate forcing foods, but what can you do. Heck, I hate steamed carrots! Chat Icon Chat Icon I like em raw dipped in some kind of ranch dressing LOL

DS hated peas. If I mix them with carrots he claps his hands and loves it. I would try mixing it with something else, and see how he does.

DS makes that face every time for the first spoon. Then he starts jumping out of his seat to eat! I wouldn't worry about it.

Re: Should I keep trying carrots? First foods question?

LOL Nicholas was the same way with carrots. He GAGGED with every bite. I tried mixing it with the cereal and same thing. I did try a little bit for the three days though. He is fine with other foods, just not a carrot fan.

Once we get through the other stuff I will probably try again and mix it with something else. Christian loved them thank goodness since I have about 20 meals worth in the freezer Chat Icon

ETA carrots were the first veggie I tried also. Did butternut squash next and he loved it. So, it may just be the carrots.
