Should we take out our guest bed??

DH and I have a 2 bedroom condo. I loved having the 2nd bedroom as our guest room/office but now things are changing. We moved the "office" into our bedroom but I'm a little reluctant to take out the guest bed. We do not have a sofabed and my FIL and SIL like to come up alot to visit. It just seems odd to have a full sized bed in the nursery.

Chat Icon won't be sleeping in there for the first few months anyway but wouldn't it be wierd if I left that bed in there??

There's plenty of room for all his furniture..

welll, do you plan to have them visit when the baby comes?

If not, then it might be a good time to take it out, so everyone knows to look into hotel rooms.

Re: Should we take out our guest bed??

My SIL has a 2-bedroom apt and just had a baby. Her parents visit often so they left the bed in the nursery. It really depends on your needs - I think it's fine to leave it if you need it.

Re: Should we take out our guest bed??

Maybe I should invest in one of those raised aero-bed thingies. Then we can just toss it up in that room when we need it??

Chat Icon What do you think?

I think for now leave it, so guests are comfortable longer term. Then you can get one of those aerobeds. However once the baby moves into their room, are you going to want people sleeping in there?

Re: Should we take out our guest bed??

I know a lot of people who have a bed in babies nursery/room for years. That way if he's sick and you want to stay close, etc. Or if he's cranky and you want DH to sleep. I would def leave it...at least for now!

I agree. I am thinking about putting a bed in the nursery for that reason and in case we have family stay over in the beginning (being the baby will be in a bassinet with us anyway)

Right now, we have a full size bed in what will be the nursery, plus the crib, and there is no room to move!
Tonight, we're taking apart the bed and moving it & the mattress down into the basement. We never have anyone stay with us, so I don't really think we need it.

Re: Should we take out our guest bed??

We have a guest bed in DD's room. We rent a 2 bedroom condo and decided to leave the bed in there. When DD was still in our room in the co-sleeper, guest stayed there (we had LOTS of visitors when she was born). Now that she sleeps in there, DH & I sleep in her room when people come to visit and we give guests our room. I'm glad we kept it in there.

Re: Should we take out our guest bed??

I am in this same position and although its a little tight in the room, i think it will be better to have it for a little while. When we bring the baby home im sure i will have my mom stay a night or two and I would rather her have a bed then the couch. Eventually we do plan to move it out, but right now I dont think the baby will mind.
