Small bed in guest bedroom ok?
After endless hours of apartment hunting all over Nassau and Suffolk, we just signed a lease for a 3 bedroom apartment in West Islip! Yay! We live in a one-bedroom now and have no idea what we're going to do with all the extra space. I figured one of the rooms would be a guest bedroom, but I have a question: My mom offered to give me my old bed (a twin) for the house. Is it cheesy to have a twin bed for a guest room? It would mean that any couple who came to visit would have to sleep one in the bed and one on an air mattress. Is that bad?
I'm sorry, I've made so many decisions in such a short space of time, my brain is fried!

Re: Small bed in guest bedroom ok?
it would be ok for now but I would consider a convertible couch that opens to a queen bed in the future or maybe a day bed or highriser.
In my world a twin bed has no use.
eta: oh and congrats about the apt!

Re: Small bed in guest bedroom ok?
Thanks!
That's what I was thinking, but with moving and furnishing a house twice the size of where we live now, money is an issue. So maybe the twin bed for now, as kind of a placeholder, and a couch with a pull-out next year (the room is small, 10x11, and I wouldn't put a double or queen bed in there for a guest room, which will probably serve as a reading/video game room for FH most of the time!)

I think a twin would work fine for now. You could always upgrade to a full later on when you have the $$ to spare. Do you have a lot of guests that stay over?

I say take the twin...thats what I have in my small guest room now. B/c how often are people going to stay over. My sil has stayed over twice and her and her husband squeeze together on the twin. Its only for a night. When you have the cash then upgrade.

Re: Small bed in guest bedroom ok?
My mom has twin beds in her guest rooms but each one has a high rise bed underneath. We sleep over all the time and just pull the bed out. It stinks because it is like sleeping in separate beds but at least we are in the same room.

You can always buy another twin mattress and a king-size box frame. If you put two twins together...voila! You have a king-size bed.

If money is an issue, then take the twin bed for now.
Otherwise, I would use a convertible sofa or a futon so you can use the room for more than one purpose.

I would take the bed for now and when you can get something bigger then get something else.

I was going to say something similar.
We did this recently in our family's vacation home. Before I got engaged I had a twin bed there. My mom decided to get another twin bed instead of a full/queen and we bought this wool-blend thing that lays over the middle. It's great, and now its a king but provides the opportunity to seperate the beds in case we have non-couple people sleeping over.
Take the twin for sure and figure out your living situation later! :)
