Is it okay to do some light shoveling in the first trimester?

Re: Shoveling

I unfortunately didn't avoid it Chat Icon Thought it wouldn't be too bad to do the front walkway....Well...I gave up. It's over a foot here and very heavy packed snow

I'm not risking it. Plus my husband won't let me.

Re: Shoveling

I think so long as you know your limits, it's OK to try! If you feel overexerted, stop.

Re: Shoveling

I would not shovel if I were pregnant. Hire a kid if you have to

I am in the first trimester too and had planned to try it. DH forbid me.

I really had no choice. We have a really long driveway and DH was up extra early trying to do it himself and only got 1/3 done in over an hour. I had him doing the heavy lifting and I scraped off of the top. Unfortunately, all the neighborhood children were still sleeping when I had to leave for work.

Re: Shoveling

NO. I would not take the chance. Have your DH or a neighbor kid or someone do it.

Re: Shoveling

Don't do it - I learned the hard way that overexerting yourself can cause some bleeding and an unnecessary trip to the hospital Chat Icon

Re: Shoveling

I've shoveled all through so far. But not hard core. DH does the plow and I shovel what can't be reached but I keep each loadful light and take union breaks! If you have no risks or concerns, normal every day activity is fine but keep your shovel fulls light. And don't over do it.

That' exactly what I did. I left the skirt for DH. It was just too much for me.
