Shower Vent...sorry kind of long.....

I know my hormones are crazy right now, and I know this post is probably going to sound stupid and immature.

I have never been into showers, as a guest or the guest of honor. My mom is planning mine and I know the date only because she wanted to make sure she had it at a good time since I most likely will go early (twins) and who knows if I'll end up on bedrest. Anyway, it is early June. I know it's a busy time of year with graduations, communions, etc, but I can't help but get upset when people are call me saying they can't go. I don't know why....and I told my mom, once I hand her the list and confirm the date is fine, I don't want to be involved, but a few friends have contacted me directly about it since they know I know when it is. I kind of knew when we planned for June the "no's" would probably outnumber the "yes's", but I just am so sad about it. Especially since one of my best friends called me today to say she can't go because her niece has a dance recital that same day - I know it's a legitimate excuse, but I know when her shower was this past fall, I was obsessing about not being able to go since I thought it would upset her and made arrangements to make sure I was there. And another friend told me this week she and this other friend I invited are not coming because three other friends who I did not invite (not really close) want to do something for me and the 5 of them will have a "separate" party for me - and she feels she & the other person I invited will not know anyone at my shower anyway!

I know this is a stupid post, and I know some people dread showers, but I think my hormones are taking over this week more than ever.....

I'm sorry it's all getting to you. I understand how you feel, I'm not a shower person either. I was so nervous at my bridal shower I was actaully sweating!

I'm sure you have a great time with a lot of good freinds and family, try not to worry about the people who can 't make it. Like you said, June can be a tough month

I don't know why they are calling you... the shower are technically supposed to be a suprise! Sorry, I would probably be too, especially if people I wanted there couldn't make it.

i would be upset too! i am sorry that people are calling you about it, and i really don't think it's all hormones that are making you feel this way. sometimes people just don't think, you know?

and for the record, i don't think a dance recital trumps a baby shower

i think you will have an amazing shower no matter what!!

Thank you!! I know, I secretly am a little annoyed that she is choosing the dance recital over this, especially since DH warned me back when it was her shower that if I did not go, it could jeopardize our friendship (she is the type who would be upset over that and I had other plans that I ended up moving for her shower).

Don't worry I know how you feel..I knew the date of my shower and that's it but a couple of people were kinda RSVPing to me..I said...I ONLY know the date cause my mom is coming to town, I am not involved call the number my mom gave. But I think my friend felt bad she could not go and tried to give me her excuse.
Take it with a gain of salt that some people don't get it!
At least you will have a wonderful shower and yes it gets busy as the nice weather comes around but those who want to be there will!
